An offshore system for growing and harvesting seaweed. In some instances, the offshore system for growing and harvesting seaweed includes an existing non-producing offshore platform. In addition, in some instances, the offshore system for growing and harvesting seaweed includes a seaweed support system coupled to the platform and configured to support the subsea growth of seaweed.

Systems and methods for growing and harvesting seaweed using non-producing offshore platforms

Proppants comprise crosslinked polymers for treatment of subterranean formations. The proppants may have a particle size less than or equal to 100 microns. A method of treating a subterranean formation includes placing a proppant including a crosslinked polymer in the subterranean formation. The placing may include placing the proppant in secondary fractures. Placing the proppant may avoid the closure of the secondary fractures.

A method and apparatus that includes isolating a sample having a known volume and obtained near a reservoir that has a reserve; extracting hydrocarbons from the sample; and identifying data associated with the hydrocarbons. The data may include the volume of the extracted hydrocarbons. The method also includes using the data to estimate the reserve of the reservoir. The method can also include pulverizing the sample to release additional hydrocarbons.

A method of mapping micro-fractures of a fracture network comprising: introducing a capsule or coated capsule or containment into the fracture network, where in the capsules or containment comprise an explosive substance and a plurality of micro-proppant; allowing initiation of the explosive substance of some or all of the plurality of the capsules to occur, wherein initiation of the explosive substance causes detonation of the explosive substance, and wherein the detonation produces one or more micro-seismic events; and causing or allowing at least a portion of the micro-proppant to enter one or more of the micro-fractures.

Multifunctional proppants made up of proppant particles that are at least partially coated by a biocide, a breaker, and a cross-linking agent. These components can be positioned around the proppant particles so they function in a sequential or time-release manner. The multifunctional proppants can be provided in fracturing fluids to form or maintain one or more fractures in a subterranean zone penetrated by a well bore and which can minimize or inhibiting bacterial growth.

A subsea wellbore protection (SWP) system. The SWP system includes a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation beneath a sea floor and a SWP structure positioned below-grade with respect to the sea floor. The SWP structure comprises a caisson that encloses a first wellbore equipment component. The first wellbore equipment component is in fluid communication with the wellbore.

According to one aspect of the inventions, emulsion compositions are provided. Emulsions according to this aspect include: (a) a water-insoluble resinous material; (b) water; and (c) an emulsifier, wherein the emulsifier comprises a non-ionic, a cationic, or a zwitterionic emulsifier; wherein the continuous phase of the emulsion comprises the water; wherein a dispersed phase of the emulsion comprises the resinous material; wherein the dispersed phase is in the form of droplets having a size distribution range such that at least 50% of the droplets have a size of 0.5 micrometers-500 micrometers; wherein the resinous material of the droplets is in a concentration of at least 5% by weight of the water; and wherein the composition of the droplets has a viscosity of less than 2,000 Poise measured at 20&#xb0; F. According to another aspect of the inventions, methods are provided for treating a portion of a subterranean formation. Methods according to this aspect include the steps of: (a) forming an emulsion according to the composition described above; and (b) introducing the emulsion into a portion of a subterranean formation.

Emulsions for use in a well including: (a) a water-insoluble resinous material; (b) water; and (c) an emulsifier, wherein the emulsifier comprises a non-ionic, a cationic, or a zwitterionic emulsifier; wherein the continuous phase of the emulsion comprises the water; wherein a dispersed phase of the emulsion comprises the resinous material; wherein the dispersed phase is in the form of droplets having a size distribution range such that at least 50% of the droplets have a size of 0.5 micrometers-500 micrometers; wherein the resinous material of the droplets is in a concentration of at least 5% by weight of the water; and wherein the composition of the droplets has a viscosity of less than 2,000 Poise measured at 20&#xb0; F. Methods include the steps of: (a) forming an emulsion described above; and (b) introducing the emulsion into a portion of a subterranean formation.
