The method for unloading the reams from a machine for the production of securities comprises the following steps:

Method for unloading reams of sheets and apparatus for unloading reams

Machine for security printing on security papers, especially bank notes, comprising a device (1) for feeding with paper, a device for transporting the paper and a unit (19) for applying optically variable images supported by at least one tape which is brought into contact with the paper such that these images are applied at defined locations on the paper corresponding to the printing marks on security papers. The application unit (19) includes at least one applicator cylinder (11) interacting with a pressure cylinder (20), the paper moving along between these cylinders. The tape is mounted between two reels arranged in a sector of the applicator cylinder (11) and the tape passes along a generatrix of said applicator cylinder, perpendicularly to the path of the paper, under the action of a servomotor acting intermittently at each application step.

Security printing machine

The method consists, while the ream is applied against a curved surface, in exerting pressure forces against the outer sheet of said ream, along a line of application parallel to the generatrices of the curved surface, moving this line over the entire length of the ream, and beyond each of the edges of the sheets, thereby releasing the sheets. The intensity of the pressure forces enables the sheets to be kept against the curved surface and the speed of movement of the line of application is adjusted in order for the released sheets successively to move away from the remaining curved sheets, thereby reestablishing a plane ream, this reformed ream being jogged.
