The invention relates to a device which is used to move and orient an object in space and to the use thereof in rapid machining. The inventive device () comprises an object support which is borne by an intermediary mobile support () which is connected to a fixed frame () using articulated connecting means (). The invention also comprises means for moving the aforementioned intermediary mobile support () in relation to the fixed frame (), which maintain the orientation of said intermediary mobile support () in relation to the fixed frame (). The invention further comprises a mechanism () which is used to orient the object support in relation to the intermediary mobile support (). The above-mentioned means for moving the intermediary mobile support () comprise actuators () which are used to move an end part of each of the articulated connecting means () borne by the fixed frame () translationally.
