The present invention provides a hot melt adhesive, comprising polyester resins with a Tg below 0° C. and frequently combined with polyester resins with a Tg above 50° C. that can be applied at 80° C. or lower, having excellent impact resistance and broad chemical resistance. The hot melt adhesive of the invention is ideally suited for use in the manufacture of handheld and wearable electronic devices.

Low bond-temperature hot melt adhesive with high impact strength and chemical resistance

Described are primer coatings, overprint varnishes, and seaming solution solutions for application to substrates such as those used to make wrap around and sleeve labels, particularly shrink wrap labels, which are used to label containers. The labels can be digitally printed with or without lane priming. With certain seaming solutions, the labels can be removed in the wash stage to enable the recycling of containers.

The present invention provides water-based coatings that provide liquid resistance when applied to various substrates. In some embodiments, more than one layer of coatings can be applied, using multiple coating stations. The coatings are particularly suitable for cellulosic substrates such as paper or paper board. In addition to liquid resistance, the coatings have good heat sealability, and are resistant to roll blocking. Preferably, the coatings are recyclable and/or repulpable with the substrates to which they are applied. The coating compositions comprise one or more polymer binders, and one or more particles. Preferably, at least one polymer binder has a glass transition temperature (Tg) less than 10° C. Preferably, at least one polymer binder has a heat seal onset temperature of less than 200° C. Preferably, at least one particle has a mean particle size greater than 4 μm. It is also preferable that the particles have a melting point greater than 60° C.

Black sheet and black adhesive tape

The present application is drawn to infrared reflective ink formulations, infrared reflective dried coatings prepared from such inks, and IR-reflective substrates and adhesive tapes prepared from such inks and coatings. The inks are suitable for printing by gravure or flexo methods onto polymeric substrates such as PET, paper, or other substrate materials. The coatings are reflective in the near-infrared range. The coatings and tapes are well suited for use in manufacturing methods. The coatings and/or the tapes are ultrathin, on the order of a few micrometers, making them attractive for use in different industrial applications.

IR-reflective ink, film, and tape

The present invention provides a photo-substrate for printing of lenticular images that comprises a lenticular lens array, and an energy-reactive material adhered to the backside of the lenticular lens array. According to the methods of the present invention, the lenticular image is printed directly through the lenticular lens array onto the energy-reactive material, using, for example, collimated light or laser. The photo-substrate of the present invention can be adapted for large scale or industrial production to print lenticular images on a wide array of substrates, including such things as packaging and clothing.

3D/flip/motion photo-substrate, imaging processes, and applications thereof

Described herein are coatings which impart oil, grease, and water resistance to various materials, such as paper, paperboard and polymeric materials. Such coatings may be applied as barrier coatings to the substrate materials in order to inhibit and prevent the transmission of oil, grease and water; that is, to prevent oil, water grease from passing into and/or through the substrate material. The coatings include an acrylic-based polymer latex, a styrene-butadiene rubber latex, a styrene-acrylic resin solution, a large particle size wax, and optionally, a small particle size wax. Also disclosed herein is a process of preparing the coatings. Also disclosed are products to which the coatings have been applied in order to impart oil, grease and/or water resistance, and processes for preparing such products.

Grease, oil, and water resistant coating compositions

In the present invention, a solvent-based (SB) adhesive for the purpose of closing or sealing the open end of a bag, such as a plastic trash bag, liner or like, is coated to the exterior or interior surface of said bag and creates a neat, tight functional seal to said bag when twist activated.

The present invention provides waterborne polyurethane coating compositions. When applied to a substrate, the coating compositions of the present invention have good adhesion, transparency, scratch resistance, mar resistance, hardness, solvent resistance, water resistance, and dishwashing resistance. The coating compositions are suitable for application to any suitable substrate, including glass.

Waterborne polyurethane coatings

The present invention discloses a method of enabling the easy separation of labels, including wrap around labels and sleeve labels, particularly shrink sleeve labels, from containers during recycling through the use of a specially formulated coating to be applied in the seam area. The coatings ensure proper bonding, and shrink properties, of the labels, and have been designed to help de-bonding of the seam in a hot caustic wash step, or a solvent wash step. The method does not rely on floatation separation and therefore may be applied to any container/label material combination regardless of their specific gravity differences.

Shrink wrap label coating to facilitate recycling

The present disclosure relates to a coating composition used to form a bond in the seam area of a label substrate material that wraps around an article and is shrunk in conformance to the size and shape of the article. The coating composition is comprised of at least first and second resins, and in some instances, third resins as described herein. The coating composition provides good bond strength in the seam area of the label, and the coating composition and/or each of the resins thereof may be at least partially hydrolysable but not solutionable in a hot caustic bath, enabling separation of the label from the article during recycling. Further disclosed is a method providing for the separation of labels from the articles, and further disclosed are labeled articles employing the coating compositions.

The present invention is directed to gas barrier coating compositions comprising a nanocomposite formed from a polymer and a nanoparticulate clay. The gas barrier coatings are applied to packaging materials such as food and pharmaceutical packaging and exhibit improved adhesion and barriers to gases such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and water vapour.

Disclosed are energy curable primer compositions for use on uneven substrates such as paper or board to help create a non-porous, smooth, print-receptive surface for subsequent in-line or off-line application of metallic or special effect inks for generating a superior appearance such as a mirror-like metallic or other special effect for promotional or high-value packaging applications. Compositions suitable for low odor and low migration indirect contact food, tobacco, or pharmaceutical product packaging are also disclosed.
