An embodiment of a method includes receiving seismic data from an array of seismic receivers, selecting a time window, and dividing the time window into a plurality of consecutive time segments, each corresponding to a subset of the seismic data. The method also includes performing a transformation of each subset into a frequency domain subset having a total frequency band, and selecting a narrow frequency band bounded by the lowest frequency of the total band and a threshold frequency. The method further includes, for each of the plurality of frequencies in the narrow frequency band, determining a cross-spectral density matrix (CSDM) of data values in each frequency domain subset, decomposing the CSDM to generate a plurality of eigenvalues, and removing at least the most significant eigenvalue from each frequency domain subset. The method still further includes transforming each frequency domain subset into a time domain to generate de-noised seismic data.

Processing seismic data to remote noise

A system and method are provided for filtering scatterer noise energy from land seismic waves using three dimensional (3D) iterative filtering in a cross-spread source-receiver pattern. The system and method isolate scatterer noise energy associated with a scatterer based on a filtering process performed using a scatterer referential time delay. Then, the isolated scatterer noise energy can be subtracted from the surface wave data. This process can be repeated for each scatterer in the covered area to remove each of their contributions, and can be performed, for example, after a preliminary filtering of the surface wave data using 3D fk filtering or the like.

System and method for three-dimensional iterative filtering of scattered waves in cross spread seismic systems

Method, computer device and software for calculating a corrected temporal variation (dt)or a corrected relative temporal variation (dt/t)of a first body wave based on a second body wave. The method includes receiving raw seismic data recorded with a receiver; calculating arrival-time variations for the first and second body waves; calculating first and second relative temporal variations for the first and second body waves; and correcting the first relative temporal variation based on the second relative temporal variation to obtain the corrected relative temporal variation or correcting the first temporal variation based on the second temporal variation to obtain the corrected temporal variation. The second wave is either a body wave or a surface wave.
