System and a method for timely interconnecting elements of a wide spread remote measurement, monitoring or data collection system through multiplexing in a satellite system. The invention provides multiplexing features of a satellite system using on-board processing features to gather data from a plurality of remote monitoring stations () on any global navigation reference time and multiplex them into a single stream towards one or more computation centers. Each of said computation centers () has a down-link adapter () capable of extracting a channel from a down-link transmission of a satellite. The data from each of said remote monitoring stations () is also passed through an up-link adapter () so as to make it suitable for uplink transmission towards a DDBS satellite. Up-link and down-link adapters can be interconnected together to enable loop-back of information such as timing data to monitor transit times.

System and method for real-time interconnection of elements of a wide area monitoring, measurement or data collection system through a direct digital satellite broadcasting multiplexing system

A system and a method for augmentation of satellite positioning systems wherein a monitoring ground station (MGS) is connected to a computer center in charge of determining the level of error of a satellite (NS) broadcasting positioning signals, and transmitting navigation correction data to a mobile user. The transmission is performed using a digital satellite system using at least one digital satellite (DS) capable of broadcasting multiplexed data in down-link transmission to a user station (U). The user station (U) de-multiplexes and retrieves the navigation correction data from said digital satellite down-link transmission by way of a frame adapter () connected to a satellite receiver (). Specific data such as time or GNSS almanacs are replicated under specific format and put into specific parts of a signaling channel to enable time broadcast to standard receivers of a DS system, and to speed-up acquisition of GNSS satellite signal by standard GNSS receivers possibly in use in the U station. A method is also disclosed for broadcasting time with a reasonable accuracy.

System and method for augmentation of satellite positioning systems

A position determination device for a mobile terminal acquires pseudorandom codes and navigation data contained in received signals and associated augmentation data representative of an instantaneous approximate position of the terminal and an associated radius of protection contained in received messages. In the presence of a radius of protection corresponding to a quality level lower than a chosen quality level or in the momentary absence of a radius of protection associated with an approximate position at a time T, an estimated radius of protection is determined as a function of a weighting law applied to a chosen number of earlier radii of protection. An estimated position of the terminal at the time T is then determined as a function of at least the estimated radius of protection and the pseudorandom codes, navigation data and approximate position acquired at the time T.
