A method for monitoring diffusion of a fluorescent marker within a region of biological tissue includes observing the marker's diffusion in a series of images captured by a camera and determining whether to display an image based at least in part on the evolution of the marker's spatial distribution as it perfuses through the tissue.

The invention relates to a method allowing the use of the information accessible by fluorescence imaging to be optimized. For this purpose, it implements the combination of a protocol for calibration and synchronization of a pulsed light for exciting a fluorescent marker, with the operation in 'rolling shutter' mode of a fluorescence camera. An appropriate correction factor allows the complete signal integrated by all of the photodiodes of the camera to be used so that no image is lost.

A device that can be used for in vivo fluorescence measurements by endoscopy or laparoscopy, including: an excitation light source illuminating an object, for example biological tissue, and inducing emission of emission light by the examined object, the emission light is, for example, a fluorescence light; a telemetry sensor emitting a telemetry light beam towards the object; a projector element to project the excitation beam and the telemetry beam directly on the object. The telemetry sensor can estimate a distance between the projector element and the object, which distance makes it possible to modulate intensity of the excitation light emitted by the object. When the object is biological tissue, this makes it possible to comply with illumination thresholds of biological tissue and to maintain an illumination of constant intensity. The projector element can be included at the end of a laparoscope or of an endoscope.

Measuring fluorescence within a zone on a surface of biological tissue uses a probe that comprises first and second sensors that are constituents of corresponding first and second optical systems and that are fixed relative to each other. The first sensor is configured to detect fluorescent light emitted at said surface and the second sensor detects visible light. The measurement includes projecting a mark onto the zone, and, based on a position of an image of the mark on the second sensor, localizing and locating fluorescence detected by the first sensor in an image of the zone. The image is produced in visible light. The mark is a light mark that is detectable by said second sensor.

Fluorescence imaging system for an operating theatre, comprising a device illuminating the operating theatre and emitting a white light, and a fluorescence imaging device. Said fluorescence imaging device comprises a light source emitting radiation for excitation of a fluorescent marker in a range of emission wavelengths of between 600 and 900 nm. The light emitted by the illuminating device is filtered by a low-pass filter, of which the cut-off wavelength is below the emission range of the fluorescent marker, but is nonetheless able to show an increase or fluctuations in the attenuation for wavelengths above the emission range of the fluorescent marker, the product of the attenuation of the filter of the detector and of the attenuation of the low-pass filter of the illuminating device leading to an attenuation by a factor of at least 10.

The distance between a fluorescence probe generating the fluorescence image and the object examined is measured. This distance is used to apply a correction function to the fluorescence image.
