A control device for controlling the operation of a wireless communication device is described. The wireless communication device includes an antenna, a front-end module configured for transmitting and receiving signals according to a time-division multiplexing scheme, and switching means which can switch at least one transmission or reception chain of said front-end module between first and second modes in which the processing chain presents different impedances to the antenna. The control device can be integrated in the communication device and includes a control module to control the switching means so that the processing chain alternates between said first and second modes so that the communication device backscatters an ambient signal.

Device for controlling the operation of a wireless FDD communication device, and associated control method

A wireless communication device having a full-duplex architecture is described, the device comprising phase shifters integrated into transmitting chains and receiving chains, respectively, which are connected to basic antennae. Each transmitting/receiving chain is associated with a receiving/transmitting chain so as to form a pair of chains, with a connection circuit arranged between the chains of each pair. The device also includes at least one control module configured to control switching means and to activate/deactivate analogue means and digital means for cancelling interference and all or some of the transmitting/receiving chains so that the device is able to alternate between at least two different modes: a first full-duplex transmitting/receiving mode, and a second mode in which the device is able to reflect one or more transmission beams.

Full-duplex, multi-antenna wireless communication device and method for controlling such a device

A wireless communication device is described, having an analogue-digital hybrid architecture comprising passive phase shifters. The device includes a control module configured to control means for switching the communication device, such that the device is capable of alternating between three separate modes: a first/second mode in which each passive phase shifter is integrated into a transmission/reception chain, and a third mode in which each passive phase shifter is integrated into a transmission line. The transmission line includes a first portion connecting a first port of the passive phase shifter to the elementary antenna to which it can also be connected in the first/second modes and configured such that substantially all the electromagnetic energy associated with a transmission beam received by the elementary antenna is transmitted to the passive phase shifter, and also includes a second portion connecting the second port of the passive phase shifter to an impedance configured to reflect the electromagnetic energy.

Multi-antenna wireless communication device, method for controlling such a device

A method of transmitting, by a first device, pilot symbols to allow a second device to estimate a transmission channel between the first and second devices. The first device has a first antenna that is active in transmission and a second antenna that is passive in transmission. The method includes: transmitting, by the first active antenna, a signal conveying pilot symbols associated with the first active antenna, and during which the second passive antenna is set to a transparency impedance to obtain a level of signal backscattered by the second passive antenna less than a first threshold; and transmitting by the first active antenna a signal conveying pilot symbols associated with the second passive antenna, and during which the second passive antenna is set to a scattering impedance to obtain a level of signal backscattered by the second passive antenna greater than a second threshold greater than the first threshold.

Method for transmitting pilot symbols

A configurable bipolarization reflector comprises intersecting first and second sets of parallel composite lines (LH, LV), a line segment between two consecutive intersection points (I) of the two sets containing a component () having conductivity that can be switched by a switching signal (V). The components are disposed on the line segments so that a switching signal applied at a point of intersection (P, P, P) of said sets switches the conductivity of the components of a group of segments defining a reflector area (Z) of given reflectivity.

Configurable bipolarization reflector

The invention relates to a printed antenna comprising a dielectric substrate (CS, CS) supporting feeder lines (LA, LA) and first and second T-shaped dipoles (D, D) of different sizes for dual-band operation. Each dipole includes a stem (J, J) and two radiating arms (B, B) separated by a coupling slot (FC, FC) made in the stem. For compactness of the antenna, the stems are partly superimposed, the coupling slots are aligned and a decoupling cut-out (ED) is made in the second dipole so as to uncover the coupling slot of the first dipole, by virtue of their superposition. The substrate can comprise one, two or three layers. Plural antennas can constitute an antenna network used as a base element in one-dimensional or two-dimensional network.

Multi-band printed dipole antenna

Configurable antenna, adapted to transmit or to receive at least one beam of electromagnetic radiation in a direction and over an angular width that are adjustable. The antenna includes an antenna that is omnidirectional about a given axis z. The omnidirectional antenna comprises at least one biconical antenna and the configurable antenna further comprises controllable reflectivity discrete reflector elements passing through the cones of the omnidirectional antenna without electrical contact and disposed on at least one circle centered on the given axis z. The antenna is applicable to mobile telephony.

Configurable omnidirectional antenna

An electromagnetic probe having at least one assembly including in combination: a coaxial type connectio, a ground plane connected to the outer sheath of the coaxial connection, a reflector cone placed facing the ground plane and shaped to define impedance that is at least substantially constant along its profile, the reflector being electrically isolated, and a dielectric medium interposed at least in part between the reflector cone and the ground plane.

Electromagnetic probe

A planar printed-circuited antenna for the transmission and/or reception of microwave signals has a first conductive element or patch substantially parallel to a ground plane, a first dielectric substrate separating the first patch from the ground plane, supply structure for the antenna, and at least one second patch which substantially identical to the first patch. The second patch is superimposed on the first patch and is substantially parallel to the ground plane. A second dielectric substrate separates the first and second patches, and at least one first short-circuit connects the first and second patches to each other. According to the invention, at least one of the first and second patches includes at least one slot.
