Method and system for wide band decoupling of integrated circuits

Printed circuit board comprising two power supplies V.sub.1 and V.sub.2 and a ground (GND), and a plurality of modules among which at least one module supplied by one of the power supplies can be replaced by another pin-compatible module supplied by the other power supply, each power supply being supplied in each case by a circuit including a ferrite connected to the power supply and a capacitor connected to the ground in order to filter the high frequency signals due to the switching operations in the modules. The board comprises a first area (24 or 24') having a first and a second terminals which is dedicated to a first ferrite to be connected to one power supply by means of its first terminal, and a second area (26 or 26') having a first and a second terminals and being dedicated to a second ferrite to be connected to the other power supply by means of its first terminal, each area including a connecting means for connecting the second terminal associated with the area to the footprints of the module.

Traffic congestion control is provided for a network node multiport switch capable of switching data packets of different priorities from input lines, via receive adapters, to output lines via transmit adapters. A spacing function is performed to limit the rate of data transfers through the switch in the absence of high priority data at the input lines and in the absence of a backpressure signal indicating the switch is congested at its output. If high priority data is detected or a backpressure signal has been generated, the data transfer rate is increased to deal with possible congestion.

Method and system for performing traffic congestion control in a data

A multipurpose data communication network node for interconnecting both ATM and Variable Length (VL) input/output trunks with all combinations of node input versus output trunk connections. The network node includes ATM/VL Receive Adapters and ATM/VL Transmit Adapters, interconnected via a Switching device (44) operating on ATM like packets (i.e. ATM cells) only. The receive adapter includes means (41, 43) for deriving switchable cells from VL traffic possibly including ATM packets and provided over an input VL trunk and means (45, 46) for deriving switchable cells from ATM packets provided on input ATM trunk. The transmit adapter, includes means (47, 48) for reconstructing VL traffic to be fed onto an output VL trunk, and means (49, 50) for reconstructing ATM traffic to be fed onto an output ATM trunk; both means (47, 48) and (49, 50) being fed with switchable cells irrespective of the traffic origin, being it from VL or ATM trunks.

Multipurpose packet switching node for a data communication network

A data processing system in which any one of a plurality of different or similar interface circuit cards can be located into any one of a number of slots of the data processing system without preassignment. The system includes a master processor which communicates with the interface cards through a data bus, address bus and control bus. Each interface card includes decoding means which computes during an initialization sequence a random address which will be used to decode the address bus after the initialization sequence. Once the different cards have their specific addresses, the system can reassign a new address according to the identifier register and the nature of the card thereby allowing the application programs to address each card separately and irrespective of the prior random address. This system may be used in small computers like the personal computer which are not designed with any slot identifier device.
