An integrated circuit comprising: an input terminal configured to receive a failure-event-signal representative of a failure event; a first output terminal configured to provide a first-failure-signal; and a second output terminal configured to provide a second-failure-signal; and a processing block configured to: set the first-failure-signal based on the failure-event-signal; and set the second-failure-signal, at a predetermined time interval after the first-failure-signal is set. The processing block further comprises a switch configured selectively, based on a received digital-error-signal to either: set the second-failure-signal based on a digital-counter-output-signal; or set the second-failure-signal based on an analogue-trigger-signal.

Safety circuit for an electrical system

A method of detecting overcurrent events within at least one electronic device, and an overcurrent detection module therefor. The method comprises receiving at least one current requirement indication from at least one electronic device, determining at least one overcurrent value based at least partly on the received at least one current requirement indication, receiving at least one indication of at least one input current flow for the at least one electronic device, and determining that an overcurrent event is occurring if the indicated at least one input current flow for the at least one electronic device exceeds the determined at least one overcurrent value.

A transceiver circuit for operating in a controller area network (CAN), having a CAN bus network and a control unit, that supports a flexible data rate (CAN FD), is described. The transceiver circuit comprises: a transmit CAN path and a receive CAN path; an input node on the transmit CAN path; a detection module operably coupled to the input node on the transmit CAN path and arranged to receive an input frame from the control unit before the input frame is transmitted on the CAN bus network and determine whether the input frame on the transmit CAN path comprises a CAN FD frame; and at least one switching module, operably coupled to the detection module and coupleable to the CAN bus network, where the at least one switching module is operable to impart a first voltage value on the CAN bus network in response to the input frame being determined as comprising a CAN FD frame.

A multimode voltage regulator comprises an output for providing a regulator output voltage Vdd and an output current to a load and a low power reference voltage source having a reference voltage output providing the regulator output voltage Vdd, when in a first low power mode the output current is not greater than a threshold value. It may comprise a buffer amplifier having an output providing the regulator output voltage Vdd, when the output current is greater than the threshold value and a first bias voltage input being connected in a second low power mode to the reference voltage output when the output current is greater than the threshold value for less than a predefined time. And it may comprise a mode controller for automatically determining the output current and automatically switching from first low power mode to second low power mode.
