The invention relates to a rolled composite aerospace product comprising a 2XXX-series core layer and an Al—Mg alloy clad layer coupled to at least one surface of the 2XXX-series core layer, wherein the Al—Mg alloy is a 5XXX-series aluminium alloy comprising 0.4% to 4.8% Mg, and preferably 0.7% to 4.5% Mg.

CLAD 2XXX-series aerospace product

Provided herein is a rolled composite aerospace product comprising a 2XXX-series core layer and an Al—Cu alloy clad layer coupled to at least one surface of the 2XXX-series core layer, wherein the Al—Cu alloy is an aluminium alloy comprising about 0.06% to 2.8% Cu, and preferably about 0.10% to 1.8% Cu. The rolled composite aerospace product is ideally suitable for structural aerospace parts. Also described herein is a method of manufacturing a rolled composite aerospace product.

Clad 2XXX-series aerospace product

The invention relates to a rolled composite aerospace product comprising a 2XXX-series core layer and a 6XXX-series aluminium alloy clad layer coupled to at least one surface of the 2XXX-series core layer, wherein the 6XXX-series aluminium alloy comprises, in wt. %, Si 0.3% to 1.0%, Mg 0.3% to 1.1%, Mn 0.04% to 1.0%, Fe 0.03% to 0.4%, Cu up to 0.10%, Cr up to 0.25%, V up to 0.2%, Zr up to 0.2%, Zn up to 0.5%, Ti up to 0.15%, unavoidable impurities each <0.05%, total <0.15%, balance aluminium. The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing such a rolled composite aerospace product.

The invention relates, according to a first aspect, to a process for the heat treatment of a cylinder head-type casting made from an aluminum alloy, in particular an alloy of aluminum, of silicon and of magnesium, and where appropriate of copper, comprising the steps of: &#x2014;solution annealing (L) of the part for a time between three and ten hours; &#x2014;quenching (S) of the part in air or in a fluidized bed; &#x2014;tempering (H) of the part at the peak of resistance, or in the vicinity of the peak of resistance to attain a level of resistance of the part at least equal to 85% of the maximum level of resistance at the tempering temperature in question. The present invention relates to a castable heat resistant aluminum alloy for high temperature applications such as components in combustion engines, in particular for the manufacturing of highly loaded cylinder heads, the alloy comprises the following composition: .Si: 6.5-10 wt %.Mg: 0.25-0.35 wt %.Cu: 0.3-0.7 wt %.Hf: 0.025-0.55 wt % Optionally with the addition of: .Ti: 0-0.2 wt %.Zr: 0-0.3 wt %, the balance being made of Al and unavoidable impurities including Fe.

Castable heat resistant aluminium alloy

The invention relates according to a first aspect to a method for the heat treatment of a batch of castings, in which an air quench is applied to the castings of the batch that are arranged in a single layer. The invention also extends to a system for the heat treatment of a batch of castings that includes a ventilation system in order to cause a flow of cooling air, characterized in that it includes means for placing the castings of the batch in a single layer and means for bringing the single layer of castings beneath the ventilation system so as to apply an air quench to the single layer comprising the castings of the batch.

A test stand for cylinder head components of an internal combustion engine includes at least one combustion or pressure chamber. The test stand supplies a hydraulic fluid to the chamber, and controls the pressure of the hydraulic fluid to simulate pressure cycles in the chamber. The test stand controls the pressure with at least one source of high-pressure hydraulic fluid, the high-pressure being at an adjustable and constant level, at least one solenoid valve per chamber, receiving hydraulic fluid from the high-pressure source, and automatically drives each solenoid valve as a function of the pressure in the chamber and a set-point pressure, so that each solenoid valve feeds this chamber with hydraulic fluid the pressure of which is controlled at any time by the solenoid valve and simulates predetermined pressure cycles as a function of time.

Molding process for the mass production of aluminum alloy castings and associated items of equipment

The disclosure relates to a process for producing molded parts, made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy and having integrated channels intended for the distribution of a lubricant or for the circulation of a liquid coolant. In the process one or more tubes, made of aluminum or an aluminum alloy and previously formed, are placed in a mold, the ends of the tube or tubes being on the outside of the mold or of the cores inserted therein. The aluminum or alloy is poured into the cavity of the mold, and after demolding, the surplus portions of the tube or tubes are eliminated. This process is used for the mass production of molded parts having a system of internal channels, such as cylinder heads, compressor cylinders, lubrication systems, convectors, etc.
