A method for manufacturing an electrically conducting article is disclosed. According to some aspects, the method includes dry mixing a powder comprising at least one thermosetting resin, a hardener compound powder for the resin and an electrically conducting filler powder, the thermosetting resin including at least two epoxide groups. The method further includes thermocompressing the mixture of powders in a mold with a shape adapted to the article and at an effective temperature for obtaining cross-linking of the resin.

A foam layer is formed by rotomoulding including heating a foaming polymer, and wherein the heating is interrupted before the foaming temperature is reached. A thermal inertia of the system also composed of the mold and previously placed layers assures completion of heating, but not sufficient to cause disorderly foaming. The foam layer is uniform and bonding. Dense layers surrounding the foam layer may be different.

A conducting composite material is composed of a kneaded and compressed mix. The mix includes (a) from 40 to 90% by volume of a flake graphite powder comprising a flake graphite type formed from graphite particle agglomerates bonded to each other and superposed such that their principal planes are parallel to each other, these agglomerates having a planar anisotropy with side dimensions between 10 &#x3bc;m and 1 mm and between 5 and 50 &#x3bc;m thick, (b) from 0 to 25% by volume of conducting fibres, and (c) from 10 to 40% by volume of an organic binder. A multi-layer thermoplastic structure that has at least one layer that is between 0.3 and 20 mm thick and is made of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer with a density of between 0.94 and 1.4, and a melt flow index of between 1.3 and 4.2 g/10 minutes at a temperature between 170 and 240 degree C. The multi-layer thermoplastic structure is obtained by rotation moulding and is of particular benefit when functioning as a gas tank.
