Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for link-adaptation (LA) power backoff for beamforming. In one embodiment, a method in a network node includes triggering a link adaptation for a channel transmission, the link adaptation comprising adjusting a transmit power of the channel transmission based at least in part on whether a previous channel transmission was correctly decoded. In another embodiment, a method in a wireless device includes receiving a downlink, DL, channel transmission at a first transmit power value; and transmitting a message to a network node, the message indicating a power saturation condition as a result of the first transmit power value.

Link-adaptation power backoff

There is provided a method for exchanging spatial information of signals received from a User Equipment (UE) between a radio unit and a baseband unit. The method comprises: determining a channel estimate based on signals received from a User Equipment (UE); selecting a spatial transformation to be applied to the received signals, based on the channel estimate; and sending a set of signals transformed by the selected transformation to a baseband unit. A radio unit for implementing this method is also provided.

Upon receiving a request for a virtual network and before admitting the requested virtual network, a virtual service provider controller may assess the ability of the virtual service provider network to meet conditions specified in the request. In particular, the virtual service provider controller may consider details of the traffic expected in the requested virtual network in the context of existing traffic on the virtual service provider network. Consideration may be given to geographic distribution of traffic, type of traffic, and key performance indices. Indeed, traffic of different types may be homogenized through the use of weighting factors to simplify the assessment. Upon determining that the virtual service provider network may not be able to meet the conditions, the virtual service provider controller may attempt to obtain additional resources from an infra-structure provider network or may attempt to adjust resources allocated to already admitted virtual networks.

Methods and systems for provisioning a virtual network in software defined networks

A method of providing a network slice service includes a mobile network operator (MNO): providing one or more service profiles to a virtual service provider (VSP) serving a user population including a plurality of user devices, each service profile comprising attributes defining characteristics of a respective network slice service offered by the MNO, the network slice service comprising any one or more of: a Virtual Network with E2E service requirements; a Virtual Network with a specified network topology; and a virtualized infrastructure. The abstractor receives one or more proposed settings from one or more optimizers of the wireless communication network. There is disclosed a system for transmitting data to users. The system includes nodes interconnected by at least one data network. The nodes are organized hierarchically to comprise a root node and at least two child nodes. The data transmission characteristics of communication with each of the child nodes are different. The root node is configured to: receive data transmission preferences of a particular user; receive data to be transmitted to the particular user; and transmit a selected subset of the data to at least one of the child nodes. A method and apparatus are provided for handling uplink data traversing a backhaul in a Radio Access Network (RAN). Uplink data received at access nodes of the RAN is processed by processing functions separate from the access nodes. The processing functions provide processed data for use, by further nodes, in decoding of the information transmitted from client devices. Processing can include one or more of: regenerating uplink signals, requantizing signals, and selecting a portion of received data to forward. A scheduler which controls various access nodes and processing functions concurrently with issuance of uplink grants is also provided.

An apparatus and method for optimizing connections' transmission over the air (OTA) between a user equipment (UE) and a telecommunication network. The telecommunication network includes an operating system (OS) agent residing on the RAN side of the OTA interface, wherein the OS agent is configured to analyze data from/to user equipment (UE). Systems, devices and methods for distributed content interest prediction and content discovery

A controller having access to channel information associated with a neighboring access point (AP) may communicate a mask to a served user equipment (UE). The mask may specify transmission parameters for an uplink transmission between the served UE and a serving AP such that a successful decoding probability of the uplink transmission at the neighboring AP exceeds a threshold. The mask may specify a maximum MCS level for the uplink transmission, a minimum transmit power level for the uplink transmission, and/or a precoder constraint for the uplink transmission that produces constructive interference at a spatial location of the neighboring AP. This may enable the neighboring AP to isolate the uplink transmission from uplink wireless signals using an interference cancellation technique, e.g., successive interference cancellation (SIC) techniques.

A hierarchical link scheduling system and method is provided. A central controller gathers network information, including global parameters and long term demands, and determines an initial schedule for link activation based on these variables. A scheduler receives the initial schedule and modifies the initial schedule based on local parameters, inter-schedule negotiation, or other short term or localized requests. The scheduler activates the links according to the modified schedule. Accordingly, the scheduler can be responsible for modifying the initial schedule provided by central controller with localized or short term requests or demands, and providing the necessary parameters to enable link activation between nodes according to the modified schedule.
