A supercontinuum source capable of emitting waves between the infrared range and the ultraviolet range, includes a pulsed laser source () capable of generating a laser beam and a non-linear microstructured optical fiber () capable of receiving the laser beam, in such a way that the supercontinuum source is capable of generating a beam (F') over a pulse duration (T&#x2032;), characterized in that the supercontinuum source includes elements for varying the pulse duration.

Pulsed supercontinuum source of variable pulse duration

A laser system having a cavity formed by at least two sub-cavities and a mechanism for optically pumping a first of the at least two sub-cavities. In the system, the optical pumping mechanism is arranged in such away to not reach a laser emission threshold of the first sub-cavity, the first sub-cavity () comprising a device for generating a short pulse, a second sub-cavity () comprising an external triggering device. The first and second sub-cavities are coupled such that the triggering of the second sub-cavity has at least two such laser systems, to a light emission system with a wide spectral band, comprising such a laser system and a mechanism for generating non-linear optical effects inserted into the second sub-cavity, and to a light generator with a wide spectral band, comprising such a laser generator having at least one laser system provided with a mechanism for generating non-linear optical effects inserted into the second sub-cavity.

A system for emitting a polychromatic light, has a laser cavity device used to optically pump the laser cavity emit radiation according to at least one excitation wavelength and light guiding mechanism arranged in such a way as to supply a polychromatic light to an outlet in the event of excitation by the radiation in a non-linear interaction regime. In the system, the guiding mechanism is arranged inside a cavity formed by at least two sub-cavities, a first sub-cavity forming the laser cavity and a second sub-cavity comprising the guiding mechanism, the first and second sub-cavities being coupled.

A method and device is provided for characterizing microscopic elements. A source signal may be chopped by means of microsystems of opto-electromechanical elements (MOEMS), which gives rise to temporal modulation of the excitation signals. The method of characterizing microscopic elements involves propagating a dispersed light source signal, spatially chopping the spectrum of the source signal into at least two excitation signals having predetermined wavelengths &#x3bb;, coding the excitation signals, focusing the excitation signals in order to generate a sensor signal propagated towards a measurement zone, and analyzing an interaction signal issuing from the interaction of the sensor signal with the microscopic elements situated in the measuring space. The spatial chopping of the spectrum of the source light signal is performed by a microsystem of opto-electromechanical elements (MOEMS).

Method and device for characterizing microscopic elements

A device for producing a polychromatic light including an optical pump that delivers a first radiation at a first wavelength; a light guide; and a selective injector that injects the radiation into the guide, the guide being arranged to generate a harmonic corresponding to the selected injector and provide a polychromatic light at an outlet, by non-linear excitation of the first radiation and the harmonic.
