Embodiments of methods for forming strengthened glass articles comprise providing an exchangeable glass substrate having a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) between about 60×10-7/° C. to about 110×10-7/° C., depositing at least one decorative porous inorganic layer onto at least a portion of the surface of the glass substrate, wherein the decorative porous inorganic layer comprises a glass transition temperature (Tg)≥450° C., a glass softening temperature (Ts)≤650° C., wherein the difference in CTE values between the glass substrate and the decorative porous inorganic layer is within 10×10-7/° C.; and curing the glass substrate and the deposited decorative porous inorganic layer at a temperature greater than the Ts of the decorative porous inorganic layer; and chemically strengthening the cured glass substrate and the decorative porous inorganic layer thereon via ion exchange at a temperature below the Tg of the decorative porous inorganic layer.

The present invention provides an aluminoborosilicate glass of composition, expressed as percentages by weight of oxides, containing: 60% to 70% of SiO, 13% to 20% of AlO, 1% to 9% of BO, 0 to 3% of PO, 0.5% to 4% of MgO, 1% to 4% of BaO, 0 to 3% of CaO, 0 to 3% of SrO, 2% to 10% of ZnO, 0 to 2% of LiO, 0 to 2% of NaO, 0 to 2% of KO, 0.1% to 3% of CuO, optionally up to 1% of at least one fining agent; and optionally up to 2% of at least one coloring agent other than CuO, with MgO+BaO+CaO+SrO<6%, 0.2%<LiO+NaO+KO<2%, and BO+MgO+LiO—(BaO+CaO+SrO+CuO)<6.4%. The invention also provides an article constituted at least in part of an aluminoborosilicate glass, the article being selected from glazing and a cooktop for associating with induction heater means with infrared sensors.

Copper aluminoborosilicate glass and uses thereof

The disclosure relates to glass articles having a decorative inorganic layer that is compatible with ion exchange processes and suitable for automotive glass. The inorganic layer comprises a plurality of pores in which polymerizable filler components have been deposited and cross-linked. The porous inorganic layer has a glass transition temperature of greater than 450° C. and a glass softening temperature of less than 650° C. The disclosure also provides glass articles containing the filled porous inorganic layer and methods for preparing the same.

The present application relates to glass-ceramics that are white, opalescent or opaque, of the lithium aluminosilicate (LAS) type, containing a solid solution of &#x3b2;-spodumene as the main crystalline phase. The present application provides transparent glass-ceramics of &#x3b2;-quartz of composition containing a small content of lithium, articles constituted at least in part of said glass-ceramics, glasses precursors of said glass-ceramics, and also a method of preparing said articles. The glass-ceramic material comprises &#x3b2;-spodumene solid solution as the predominant crystalline phase.
