In one aspect an apparatus for use in a wellbore is disclosed that in one non-limiting embodiment includes a completion assembly that contains a filter section having a tubular with a plurality of through holes filled with a filter material for restricting flow of solid particles through the holes for placement of the filter section across from a zone along the wellbore, a sensor inside the tubular for providing information about a parameter of interest during treatment of and/or production from the zone into the tubular, and a first circuit coupled to the sensor that transmits wireless signals corresponding to measurements made by the sensor to a second circuit that transmits the received signals to the surface.

An apparatus for estimating at least one parameter includes: a deformable member configured to deform in response to the at least one parameter; a housing surrounding at least a portion of an external surface of the deformable member to define an isolated region around the portion and an isolated surface of the deformable member; and at least one optical fiber sensor disposed on the isolated surface and held in an operable relationship with the isolated surface, the at least one optical fiber sensor configured to generate a signal in response to a deformation of the deformable member.

Device and method for discrete distributed optical fiber pressure sensing

A downhole system includes a tubular having a plurality of spaced apertures radially extending through a wall of the tubular. A section of the tubular blocking radial fluid flow through the wall between an interior and exterior of the tubular. The section arranged from a first end to a second end of the tubular. A plurality of filter pucks respectively inserted into at least some of the plurality of apertures. The filter pucks each including a body configured for insertion in one of the apertures and a filtering element within each body; and, at least one control or monitoring line arranged on the section. Further is a method of controlling sand in a downhole system.

Systems, program product, and methods for monitoring linearity of a down-hole pumping system assembly during deployment within a bore of a casing of a well positioned to extract hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir and selecting an optimal operational position for the down-hole pumping system assembly within the bore of the casing, are provided. Various embodiments of the systems allow an operator to ensure that a motor and pump of a down-hole pumping system assembly are installed in an optimal position in a well by ensuring alignment across the pump stages casing and motor casing. The system includes a groove extending along an outer surface of a housing of the pumping system assembly, and an optical sensing fiber mounted in the groove.

Systems, program product, and methods for monitoring linearity of a down-hole pumping system assembly during deployment within a bore of a casing of a well positioned to extract hydrocarbons from a subterranean reservoir and selecting an optimal operational position for the down-hole pumping system assembly within the bore of the casing, are provided. Various embodiments of the systems allow an operator to ensure that a motor and pump of a down-hole pumping system assembly are installed in an optimal position in a well by ensuring alignment across the pump stages casing and motor casing. The alignment and linearity of the pump and motor can be crucial to run life of the pump and/or motor.

A system for monitoring a borehole in an earth formation includes: a borehole string configured to direct a fluid into the earth formation; at least one optical fiber sensor disposed on the borehole string at a fixed location relative to the borehole string, the optical fiber sensor including a plurality of measurement units configured to generate measurements of at least one of strain and deformation of the borehole string; at least one temperature sensor configured to measure a temperature at a plurality of locations along the length of the optical fiber sensor; and a processor configured to receive the measurements from the at least one optical fiber sensor, receive temperature measurements from the at least one temperature sensor, and identify a fluid leak in at least one of the borehole string and the formation based on a correlation of the optical fiber sensor measurements and the temperature measurements.

System and method for wellbore monitoring

A system for monitoring a borehole includes: a borehole string configured to be disposed within the borehole and configured to direct a fluid into the earth formation for storage in the earth formation, the fluid including carbon dioxide; at least one optical fiber sensor disposed on the borehole string at a fixed location relative to the borehole string, the optical fiber sensor including a plurality of measurement units disposed therein along a length of the optical fiber sensor, the plurality of measurement units configured to cause a wavelength shift in an interrogation signal received in the at least one optical fiber sensor due to at least one of a strain and a deformation of the borehole string; and a processor configured to transmit the interrogation signal to the at least one optical fiber sensor, and calculate at least one of the strain and the deformation based on the wavelength shift.

An apparatus for measuring forces acting on a tubing string within a wellbore, comprising a body including a central passage and an internal void radially offset from the central passage. End portions extending from the body each include an internal passage and an interface configured to detachably couple to the tubing string for conveyance within the wellbore. A clamp is detachably coupled to one end portion, and first sensors coupled to the clamp are configured to detect strain induced by forces acting on the tubing string. At least one second sensor coupled to the body is configured to detect pressure and temperature within the wellbore. A memory device coupled to the body within the internal void is configured to log measurements detected by the first and second sensors. An electrical power supply coupled to the body within the internal void is configured to provide electrical power to the memory device.
