The present invention relates to the use of octenyl succinate starch, in particular sodium octenyl succinate starch as a binder in wet granulation, in particular for pharmaceutical solid dosage form and the granule obtainable by the method thereof.

Use of octenyl-succinate starches as a binder in wet granulation

A process for preparing a coagglomerate of crystalline mannitol and of starch includes spray-drying or granulating a mixture of a 'solution' of mannitol and of starch, the starch being suspended in the mannitol solution. The coagglomerate has a laser volume mean diameter D4,3 between 60 and 500 &#x3bc;m, and a mannitol/starch ratio is between 99.5/0.5 and 50/50. The coagglomerate, when mixed with 1.2% of magnesium stearate and formed into a cylindrical tablet with convex faces, a diameter of 13 mm, a thickness of 6 mm, and a weight of 0.734 g, has a crushing strength greater than 120 N. 100 g of said coagglomerate has a flow of between 3 and 15 seconds, measured according to European Pharmacopoeia 5.0, volume 1, 01/2005: 20916, section 2.9.1.6.

Compressible and free-flow co-agglomerates of mannitol and granual starch

The present invention relates to mannitol granules that are of use for the preparation of tablets by direct compression, which do not require a small amount of lubricant in order to be processed. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing such granules. The present invention also encompasses pulverulent compositions comprising these granules, and also direct compression processes using these pulverulent compositions. Finally, the present invention relates to tablets composed of these pulverulent compositions.

Coagglomerates of mannitol, whose laser volume-average diameter D4,3 is between 1 and 200 &#x3bc;m, and of granular starch, are characterized in that they have a disintegration behavior determined according to a test A such that the relaxation time measured is between 30 and 100 seconds and the swelling force is between 0.8 and 3.0 N.

A pulverulent crystalline maltitol composition, is characterized in that it has a laser volume mean diameter between 10 and 150 &#x3bc;m; in that it has a maltitol content between 80 and 99.9% by weight; in that at least 50% by weight of its particles flow through a sieve having a cut-off threshold of 2000 &#x3bc;m according to a test A1; in that at least 35% by weight of its particles flow through a sieve having a cut-off threshold of 2000 &#x3bc;m according to a test A2; and in that it includes from 0.1 to 20% by weight of at least one water-insoluble anti-caking agent, the anti-caking agent having a hygroscopicity, determined according to the test B, between 2.5 and 25%. This composition is not subject to caking, and finds applications in the food and pharmaceutical fields.

High-fluidity and non-caking pulverulent crystalline maltitol composition

Disclosed is a powder composition of mannitol crystals, produced by: (i) the crystallization of mannitol in a solvent; followed by (ii) a step of separating the crystals from the resulting crystal suspension; (iii) a step of drying the crystals; and (iv) a selection step, the composition having a particle size distribution, as determined by laser particle sizing, of 72 to 99.9 vol % of particles having a particle size greater than 75 &#x3bc;m, of 0.1 to 60 vol % of particles larger than 250 &#x3bc;m, and a mean diameter of between 100 and 300 &#x3bc;m. Also described is a method for producing such a composition by a step of crystallizing a mannitol syrup followed by drying the mannitol crystals, a step of selecting particles, and a step of collecting a fraction of the powder composition including 72 to 99.9% of particles having a particle size greater than 75 &#x3bc;m.

A film-forming starchy composition for the film-coating of solid forms or the preparation of films. The inventive composition has an amylose content of between 25 and 45%, preferably between 30 and 44% and still more preferably between 35 and 40%, the percentages being expressed by dry weight in relation to the dry weight of starch contained in the composition, and includes at least one stabilized starch. A method for the film-coating of solid forms is disclosed and includes spraying the film-forming composition onto a moving nuclei bed. The film-forming composition is used for the production of films and capsules.

The present invention relates to a granulated sorbitol of essentially &#x3b3; crystalline form and having a high sorbitol content, characterized in that it has a specific surface area, determined according to the BET method, of greater than or equal to 2 m/g, preferably of between 2.2 and 4 m/g, and even more preferably of between 2.5 and 3.5 m/g, a compressibility of between 200 and 400 N, preferably of between 250 and 350 N, and a volume-average diameter, measured by laser diffraction particle sizing using a dry-system module, of between 260 and 1000 &#x3bc;m, preferably of between 260 and 500 &#x3bc;m, and even more preferably of between 260 and 350 &#x3bc;m.

Granulated sorbitol and process for its preparation

The invention relates to a dextrose hydrate in powder form, having a dextrose content at least equal to 98%, an &#x3b1; crystalline form content at least equal to 95%, a water content greater than 1%, a compressibility determined according to a test A, at least equal to 70 N. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation thereof and to the use of said dextrose hydrate in powder form as a sweetener, osmotic agent, nutrient or excipient, particularly in compositions intended for the food, pharmaceutical, chemical and agrochemical sectors.

A concentrated polyol composition, having a water content from 10-17%, preferably between 12 and 16%, and comprising from 35 to 90% of hydrogenated monosaccharides including at least 30% of sorbitol, and from 0 to 45% of hydrogenated disaccharides, these percentages being expressed as dry weight relative to the dry weight of all the hydrogenated saccharides contained in the said composition. This concentrated polyol composition may advantageously be unsweetened. This concentrated polyol composition may be used as a medium for dispersing hydrophilic polymers, and in particular cellulose, as well as for the preparation of pharmaceutical or cosmetological products such as toothpastes.

The invention relates to a dextrose in powder form, characterised in that it has a dextrose content at least equal to 99%, an &agr; crystalline form content at least equal to 95%, a water content at most equal to 1% and a compressibility, determined according to a test A, at least equal to 80 N, preferably in the range 100 N and 200 N. The invention also relates to the use of said dextrose in powder form as a sweetener or excipient, particularly in food or pharmaceutical compositions, for example, for the preparation of confectionery or of tablets to be sucked, chewed, dissolved or swallowed.
