An anti-roll device comprises a bar coupled to two links, a hydraulic control circuit (CC) and actuating means (MAC) comprising a casing (CR) defining the chamber (CH) subdivided into a first (P) and a second (P) part by a piston (PI), and comprising first (ES) and second (ES) inlets-outlets communicating with the first (P) and second (P) parts and an intermediate inlet-outlet (ES) communicating with the first part (P) or with the second part (P) depending on the position of the piston (PI). These actuating means (MAC) adopt a disengaged state or block state in whatever position of the piston (PI), according to the accessibility status of the first (ES) and second (ES) inlets-outlets and of the intermediate inlet-outlet (ES). The control circuit (CC) controls the accessibility statuses according to the commands received.

Motor vehicle wheelset anti-roll device with actuating means operated by a hydraulic control circuit

An anti-roll device equips an axle assembly of a motor vehicle and comprises two connecting rods of which one comprises a part of coupling means comprising: a housing subdivided into two parts by a piston and comprising two inlets-outlets communicating with the two parts and an intermediate inlet-outlet communicating with at least one of the parts depending on the position of the piston, a fluid reservoir supplying a conduit coupled to the intermediate inlet-outlet, two non-return means coupled to the inlets-outlets and to the conduit, and an electrically operated valve coupled to the inlets-outlets and placed either in an open state ensuring a connection between the parts and the fluid reservoir via the intermediate inlet-outlet, or in a closed state allowing fluid discharge out of the housing only through the intermediate inlet-outlet.

Anti-roll device with controlled coupling means for a motor vehicle axle assembly

Provided is a continuous hydraulic suspension system which has, in each front and rear valve block (), an Energy Management Valve (EMV) () and Check Valves (CV) () to provide re-circulation of oil in the resistive mode. The system allows reduced energy consumption during non-motoring modes, and enables a smaller capacity pump and/or an electric motor pump to be used.

Hydraulic suspension system

A vehicle roll control system, comprising a front torsion bar(), attached to the front hydraulic actuator () and a rear torsion bar () attached to the rear hydraulic actuator (). A pressure control valve () is fluidly connected between a pressure source () and a reservoir (). Vehicle roll control system

A roll control system comprising a front torsion bar; a front first hydraulic actuator attached to the front torsion bar; a rear torsion bar; a rear first hydraulic actuator attached to the rear torsion bar; and control means connected to the hydraulic actuators and controlling the operation thereof on detection of a predetermined vehicle condition; wherein each hydraulic actuator comprises a first fluid chamber and a second fluid chamber; wherein the control means comprises a source of fluid pressure, a fluid reservoir, a pressure control valve fluidly connected between the pressure source and the reservoir, two pressure relief valves each having two positions to selectively fluidly connect the fluid chambers of the hydraulic actuators either to the pressure source or to the fluid reservoir, and a directional valve fluidly connected between the pressure relief valves and the fluid chambers of the hydraulic actuators; wherein the pressure relief valves and the directional valve are positioned on detection of the predetermined vehicle condition to apply a fluid pressure to the first fluid chamber of the first front and rear hydraulic actuators, and/or to apply a fluid pressure to the second fluid chamber of the first front and rear hydraulic actuators.

A hydraulic control circuit () comprises a source () of fluid pressure having a fluid inlet () and a fluid outlet (); a fluid reservoir () fluidly connected to the fluid inlet of the pressure source; an attenuation means () having a fluid inlet () fluidly connected to the fluid outlet of the pressure source, and a fluid outlet (); a pressure control valve () fluidly connected to the fluid inlet of the attenuation means and to the fluid reservoir or the fluid inlet of the pressure source; and one or more valves (-) fluidly connected to the fluid outlet of the attenuation means.

A vehicle roll control system for a vehicle having a pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels each rotatable on an axle, comprising a front hydraulic actuator attached to the front torsion bar; a rear hydraulic actuator attached to the rear torsion bar; and control means connected to the front and rear hydraulic actuators and controlling the operation thereof on detection of a predetermined vehicle condition; wherein each front and rear hydraulic actuator comprises a housing, a piston making a sealing sliding fit inside the housing to define a first fluid chamber and a second fluid chamber, and a piston rod connected to the piston and extending through the second fluid chamber and out of the housing; wherein the control means acts on detection of the predetermined vehicle condition to apply a fluid pressure to the first fluid chambers of the front and rear hydraulic actuators and to apply a fluid pressure to the second fluid chambers of the front and rear hydraulic actuators; and wherein the control means comprises a source of fluid pressure, a fluid reservoir, a pressure control valve fluidly connected between the pressure source and the reservoir, a directional valve fluidly connected between the pressure control valve and the hydraulic actuators, and at least two pressure relief valves fluidly connecting the directional valve to the pressure source or the reservoir; wherein the pressure relief valves are actuated to create a pressure differential between the first fluid chambers whilst maintaining the second fluid chambers at substantially the same pressure or to create a pressure differential between the second fluid chambers whilst maintaining the first fluid chambers at substantially the same pressure.

A vehicle roll control system for a vehicle has a hydraulic actuator attached to a torsion bar. The system includes first and second pressure control valves fluidly connected in series between a pressure source and a reservoir, and a directional valve fluidly connected between the pressure control valves and the hydraulic actuator. The control valves are actuated to control the fluid pressure within the hydraulic actuator to either extend or compress the hydraulic actuator based on the detection of a predetermined vehicle condition for controlling vehicle roll.

Roll control system for a motor vehicle

A roll control system for a motor vehicle comprising a torsion bar (); a first hydraulic actuator () connected to one end () of the torsion bar and connectable to an axle () of the vehicle; a second hydraulic actuator () connected to the other end () of the torsion bar and connectable to the axle of the vehicle; a hydraulic control system () connected to the hydraulic actuators and including a source of fluid pressure (), a fluid reservoir (), at least one supply valve (), and a pressure control valve (); and an electrical control system () controlling the hydraulic system dependent on sensed vehicle conditions; wherein each hydraulic actuator comprises a rebound chamber () and a compression chamber () separated by a piston (), and a piston rod () attached to the piston and extending through and out of the rebound chamber; wherein, during straight line motion of the vehicle, the electrical control system actuates the supply valve or valves to isolate the rebound chambers and to connect the compression chambers to the fluid reservoir, and wherein, during turning motion of the vehicle in one direction, the electrical control system actuates the supply valve or valves to connect the rebound chambers to a controlled fluid pressure form the hydraulic control system, to connect the compression chamber remote from the turning direction to the controlled fluid pressure, and to connect the other compression chamber to the fluid reservoir. Provides smooth roll control during change in turning direction.

A vehicle roll control system comprises a torsion bar and a first arm extending-substantially perpendicular to the torsion bar. The first arm is fixed to the torsion bar at one end and connectable to one of the axles at the other end. A hydraulic actuator is attached to the torsion bar; and a control connected to the hydraulic actuator controls the operation thereof on detection of a predetermined vehicle condition. The hydraulic actuator comprises a housing, a piston making a sealing sliding fit inside the housing to define a first fluid chamber and a second fluid chamber, and a piston rod connected to the piston and extending through the second fluid chamber and out of the housing. The control acts on detection of the predetermined vehicle condition alternatively (1) to apply substantially the same fluid pressure to the first and second fluid chambers when the piston tends to move in a first direction to extend the hydraulic actuator, or (2) to apply a fluid pressure to the second fluid chamber above the fluid pressure in the first fluid chamber when the piston tends to move in a second direction to compress the hydraulic actuator. The control comprises a first directional valve and a second directional valve, each directional valve being capable of moving between first and second positions either to tend to move the piston in the first direction or to tend to move the piston in the second direction.

A vehicle roll control system has a torsion bar and a first arm extending substantially perpendicular to the torsion bar. The first fluid chamber is fluidly connected to a fluid reservoir by the control when the piston tends to move in the second direction, and the control comprises a fluid pump and a directional valve, the pump being fluidly connected to the second fluid chamber and the directional valve being capable of moving between a first position in which the first fluid chamber and the second fluid chamber are fluidly connected, and a second position in which the first fluid chamber is fluidly connected to the fluid reservoir.

A roll control system for installation between axially aligned wheels of a motor vehicle, the roll control system comprising a torsion bar; a first hydraulic actuator attached to one end of the torsion bar and attachable to one of the wheels; a second hydraulic actuator attached to the other end of the torsion bar and attachable to the other wheel; and an electronic control unit monitoring one or more predetermined vehicle operating conditions; wherein the first and second hydraulic actuators are substantially identical, each comprising a compression chamber containing hydraulic fluid, a rebound chamber containing hydraulic fluid, a movable piston between and fluidly isolating the compression chamber and the rebound chamber, a piston rod connected to the piston and extending through the rebound chamber, a gas chamber containing pressurised gas acting on the hydraulic fluid in the rebound chamber, and an electrically operated valve between the compression chamber and the rebound chamber and actuated by the control unit dependent on the monitored conditions, the valve being actuable between a two-way position in which the valve allows hydraulic fluid to flow between the compression chamber and the rebound chamber and a one-way position in which the valve allows hydraulic fluid to flow from the rebound chamber into the compression chamber but not from the compression chamber into the rebound chamber. Reduces the risk of incorrect latching of the torsion bar.
