Curable condensation compounds based on alkoxy-functional polysiloxanes

A modified organic pigment can be used to make a coating composition, such as a paint, a varnish, or a printing ink. The modified organic pigment is obtained by reacting the pigments during the pigment synthesis with one interface-active compound, where the interface-active compound is a compound within a three-dimensional Hansen space determined by three coordinates, Hansen solubility parameters (HSPs), D=18.21, P=8.44, H=13.16 with a radius of 6.7 units about a center of the three-dimensional Hansen space, determined with the aid of the HSPiP software, version 5.0.0.4.

Modified pigments and use thereof

The present invention relates to a formulation comprising a polyether siloxane, which is characterized in that a polyether that is terminated with an ester group and that is different from the polyether siloxane is present in the formulation in an amount of from 0.5 to 10% by weight based on the complete formulation, to a process for the production of a defoamed composition, wherein the inventive formulation is added to the composition to be defoamed, and to a composition comprising a formulation according to the invention, wherein the composition is a coating agent, a paint or a varnish.

Formulation and its use as defoamer

The invention describes (i) reaction systems for the production of siloxanes bearing acetoxy functions, comprising a) silanes and/or siloxanes bearing alkoxy groups and/or b) silanes and/or siloxanes bearing acetoxy groups, c) silanes and/or siloxanes bearing hydroxy groups, d) optionally simple siloxane cycles and/or DT cycles, e) a reaction medium, comprising acetic anhydride, perfluoroalkanesulfonic acid and preferably acetic acid, (ii) a process for producing linear or branched siloxanes bearing acetoxy functions and also the use of same for producing polyethersiloxanes.

Reactive siloxanes

SiOC-linked, linear polydimethylsiloxane-polyoxyalkylene block copolymers of formula (I) C&#x2014;B-(AB)&#x2014;C1 are produced by reaction of end-equilibrated &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-diacetoxypolydimethylsiloxanes with a mixture including at least one polyether polyol, preferably a polyether diol, and at least one polyether monool or at least one monohydric alcohol.

Process for producing polyoxyalkylene polysiloxane block polymers

Reaction system for preparing acetoxy function-bearing siloxanes having chain lengths of more than 3 silicon atoms, comprising silanes and/or siloxanes bearing alkoxy groups, silanes and/or siloxanes bearing acetoxy groups, silanes and/or siloxanes bearing hydroxy groups and/or simple siloxane cycles and/or DT cycles, and also a reaction medium comprising acetic anhydride, Br&#xf8;nsted acid and acetic acid, wherein Br&#xf8;nsted acids having a pKa &#x2264;&#x2212;1.30 are used, and wherein the acetic acid is present in the reaction system in amounts of 0.4 to 15.0 percent by weight, based on the reaction system, wherein the molar ratio of Br&#xf8;nsted acid used to acetic acid is in a defined range, with the proviso that either the sole use of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and also of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid and acetic acid is excluded, and/or that the Br&#xf8;nsted acid used at least in part has a pKa between &#x2212;1.3 and &#x3e;&#x2212;13.5.

Acetoxy systems

A reaction product containing a non-cyclic alkoxy-functional polysiloxane is produced by heating a reaction system, which contains a cyclic polyorganosiloxane of the formula [(RSiO)], where the subscript n is an integer of at least 4 and each Ris an alkyl group or aryl group; a silane of the formula RSi(OR), where the subscript m is an integer from 1 to 4, each Rindependently is an alkyl group or aryl group, a hydrocarbyl group or a halogenated hydrocarbyl group and each Rindependently is an alkyl group; and a catalyst system comprising a metal trifluoromethanesulfonate of the formula [M][CFSO], where M is a metal atom selected from sodium (Na) and potassium (K), and a Br&#xf8;nsted acid, wherein Br&#xf8;nsted acids having a pKa&#x2264;3.0, preferably having a pKa&#x2264;2.0, particularly preferably having a pKa&#x2264;&#x2212;0.0 are used.

Process for producing non-cyclic alkoxy-functional polysiloxanes

Branched SiOC-linked polyethersiloxanes have the following formula (I) where Ris an alkyl radical having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a phenyl radical, but preferably 90% of the radicals Rare methyl radicals; b has a value of from 1 to 10; a has a value of from 1 to 200, preferably 10 to 100, a value of from 3 to 70 when b is &#x2265;1 and &#x2264;4, or a value of from 3 to 30 when b is &#x3e;4; and Rdenotes identical or different polyether radicals, but at least one radical Ris a structural element radical of formula (II): where p=at least 2, preferably p=2-6, particularly preferably p=3.

SiOC-based polyethersiloxanes

SiOC-based polyethersiloxanes are prepared based on linear &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-hydroxy group-bearing siloxanes. In a first step, &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-acetoxy group-bearing linear polysiloxanes are prepared. In a second step, the &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-acetoxy group-bearing linear polysiloxanes are converted into the desired organosiloxane units, preferably shorter organosiloxane units, wherein the thus converted organosiloxane units have &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-acetoxy groups. In a third step, the &#x3b1;,&#x3c9;-acetoxy group-bearing linear polysiloxanes from step 2 react with polyetherols to give SiOC-based polyethersiloxanes.

Tailored SiOC-based polyethersiloxanes

SiOC-bonded polyether siloxanes are produced by transesterification of alkoxysiloxanes with polyetherols in the presence of trifluoromethanesulfonate as catalyst. The computational total water content of the reactants including alkoxysiloxanes and polyetherols is &#x2264;5000 ppm by mass, advantageously &#x2264;300 ppm by mass, preferably &#x2264;150 ppm by mass, more preferably &#x2264;100 ppm by mass, in particular &#x2264;50 ppm by mass. The determination of the individual water contents is performed beforehand, preferably by titration according to Karl Fischer.

Production of SiOC-bonded polyether siloxanes

A polyaddition compound and/or a salt thereof is obtainable by the reaction of epoxy resin based on at least one diglycidyl ether of Formula (I) wherein R=a divalent aliphatic or monocyclic aromatic or bicyclic aromatic radical or mixtures thereof; with at least one polyether alcohol of Formula (II)R-[OEt]-[OPr]-[OBu]-[OSO]-OH&#x2003;&#x2003;Formula (II)wherein R=independently identical or different, linear or branched, optionally aromatic hydrocarbyl radicals having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, [OEt]=ethylene oxide radical, [OPr]=propylene oxide radical, [OBu]=butylene oxide radical, [OSO]=styrene oxide radical, n=0 to 100, m=0 to 50, s=0 to 20, and r=0 to 3, with the proviso that n+m+s+r=3-103, and with at least one compound containing at least one functional group selected from sulfate groups, sulfonate groups, carboxylate groups and phosphate groups.
