A process for locating and measuring deformation in a civil engineering structure wherein at least one geosynthetic fabric () containing a plurality of optical fibers (to) in parallel and capable of transmitting signals is applied in the structure or under the structure. The optical fibers contain Bragg gratings (), evenly spaced in series () of Nconsecutive gratings that correspond to the same wavelength. The series is distributed in identical sets, each of which contains Nconsecutive series that correspond to the different wavelengths, and, in at least two optical fibers, the numbers Nof gratings of a series and the numbers Nof series () of a set () are determined to locate the deformations to which the structure is subjected on the one hand and, on the other, to measure the elongation of the said optical fibers where the deformation occurs.

Method for locating and measuring deformations in a work of civil engineering

A geotextile structure for filtering liquid from soil includes a lower layer of geotextile material for contacting soil for filtration thereof. The lower layer presents in its thickness a number of constrictions n included between 15 and 40, and is made of synthetic filaments or fibers presenting a count D wherein D is measured in units of decitex. An upper layer of geotextile material provides mechanical protection of the lower layer. The upper layer presents in its thickness constrictions more open than the constrictions of the lower layer to avoid clogging of the lower layer. The upper layer is made of synthetic filaments or fibers presenting a count at least equal to 2D. The upper and lower layers are bonded to each other.
