A method for a logon procedure in a 5GNR non-terrestrial network is provided, which includes at least one user equipment, a satellite and either a gNodeB base station or a gNodeB base station on-board the satellite or a gateway. The method includes transmitting a logon burst signal from a user equipment of the satellite communication system to the gNodeB base station or gNodeB base station on-board the satellite. The logon burst signal includes one or more transmit parameter fields, each transmit parameter field corresponding to a signal transmit time or a signal transmit level, or a signal transmit frequency of the logon burst signal in the user equipment.

Logon procedure provide a logon signal

A method for adjusting transmit power of a terminal transmitter on a return link between the terminal transmitter and a receiver. The method includes: a) determining on a version of at least one data burst signal comprised in the receive signal, and a first metric is indicative of the amount of non-linear distortion with which the version of the at least one data burst signal is impaired; b) determining on at least a part of the receive signal a second metric indicative of at least one impairment other than the amount of non-linear distortion; c) determining an updated transmit power value for a next data burst signal to be sent from the first terminal transmitter, thereby taking into account the first and second metric.

Method for transmit power management on a communication link

A method is provided for adjusting at least one transmit parameter of a digital transmitter of a communication system by estimating phase noise of a sequence of symbols received in a demodulator of a digital receiver of the communication system. The method includes: measuring a phase for the symbols of the sequence, deriving a total phase error for the sequence from the measured phases, determining a characteristic of the total phase error, deriving, based on a signal quality estimation of the received sequence of symbols, an indication of a contribution to the characteristic from at least one impairment different from phase noise, obtaining a phase noise estimation by subtracting the indication of the contribution from the characteristic of the total phase error, adjusting the at least one transmit parameter depending on the obtained phase noise estimation.

A system for communication via satellite between a gateway and a plurality of terminals comprises: a controller device to calculate a time-frequency plan of burst signals from a terminal and to transmit, based on the time-frequency plan, to the terminal information including configuration information on transmit burst signals; a multi-carrier demodulator structure arranged to receive a resulting signal comprising receive signals and arranged to receive information for the receive signals. The multi-carrier demodulator structure has multi-carrier demodulator devices, each with a channelizer to serialize the receive signals, yielding a serialized stream of sample segments corresponding to the receive signals, a processing block to receive that stream of sample segments and to perform demodulation of the sample segments based on the sample segment content, on a state indicative of the receive signal to which the sample segment belongs and on said receive information, pre-FEC word aggregation, demapping and decoding.
