Leads for use with implantable medical devices may be implanted in the venous, arterial, or lymphatic networks. The diameter of a microlead may be at most equal to 1.5 French (0.5 mm), and it may include a plurality of micro-cables each including: an electrically conductive core cable for connection to one pole of a multipolar generator of an active implantable medical device, and a polymer insulation layer surrounding the core cable. At least one exposed area may be formed in the insulation layer to form a detection/stimulation electrode.

Implantable detection/stimulation multipolor microlead

The disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing an implantable defibrillation coil for a lead of an active implantable medical device, the defibrillating coil includes at least one elongate conductive coil which includes a plurality of non-contiguous turns. The method includes inserting a tube of polymeric material within the elongated conductive coil, supplying thermal energy to soften the tube, applying pressure on the assembly formed by the elongate conductive coil and causing the tube to deform the tube wall by insertion of the tube wall between the turns of the elongate conductive coil.

Method of manufacturing an implantable defibrillation coil

A metal ring for installation as an electrode on a microcable includes an elongated ring having an internal lumen, a middle portion partially collapsed into the internal lumen and adapted to puncture a sheath of the microcable when the middle portion is crimped around the microcable, and two end portions surrounding the middle portion.

Cardiac or cerebral vessel microlead with electrode ring

The disclosure relates to a lead including a connector for connection to a generator, a demultiplexing circuit receiving at its input on the first conductors of the electrical control signals from the control bus and whose output is connected to a plurality of second conductors contained in the lead and connected to the lead electrodes. The lead further includes a gate and connection circuit component having a body forming a support for an integrated circuit for demultiplexing and defining a set of connection cavities with the second conductor distributed at the periphery of the body around a general axis of the body, and a plurality of connecting elements embedded in the body material, and emerging at an element region and supporting the circuit at respective cavities. The gate and connection circuit component is advantageously made of ceramic-metal.

Multielectrode lead with multiplexed control and associated connection method

A microlead has a distal active portion formed by a microcable including an electrically conductive core coated with an insulation layer, with a plurality of exposed areas forming the stimulation electrodes. The microcable has a three-dimensional preshape inscribed in a cylindrical envelope volume so as to match the target vessel wall. The microcable includes a plurality of exposed areas regularly distributed over the circumference of the cylindrical envelope volume considered in axial projection, the exposed zones extending only over an angular sector of the microcable considered in cross section, said angular sector facing the outside of the envelope volume of the preshape.

Detection/stimulation microlead implantable in a vessel of the venous, arterial or lymphatic network

A method of manufacturing a detection/stimulation lead for implantation into a venous, arterial, or lymphatic network is shown and described. The method includes providing a microcable comprising a sheath of insulating material covering an electrically conductive core. The method further includes surrounding a portion of the microcable with an electrically conductive metal ring. The method also includes crimping the ring such that the thickness of the sheath is penetrated by a portion of the metal ring and such that an electrical connection is formed between the metal ring and the electrically conductive core.

A microlead includes a conductive cable formed by a strand of microcables, each microcable being formed of a strand of individual metallic wires. The microlead also includes an insulation layer sheathing the cable. The microlead further includes at least one exposed area formed in the insulation layer so as to form a corresponding electrode of the microlead. The microlead further includes a pharmacologically active agent (e.g., an anti-inflammatory agent) configured to gradually be released into the environment of the microlead after implantation of the microlead. The pharmacologically active agent may be a soluble material. An interstitial space, delimited by the inner wall of the insulation layer and existing in the remainder between the wires of each microcable, is filled with the pharmacologically active agent.

Detection/stimulation implantable microlead incorporating an anti-inflammatory agent

A sensing/pacing lead including a microcable having a diameter of at most 2 French (0.66 mm). The microcable includes an electrically conductive core cable including a plurality of strands and a composite structure formed from at least a structuring material and a radiopaque material, the radiopaque material constituting at least about 0.008 mmof the core cable cross section. The plurality of strands of the core cable comprises a first set of individual strands formed from the structuring material and a second set of individual strands formed from the radiopaque material, or a plurality of strands each comprising a first and second layer, one of which is the structuring material and the other the radiopaque material. The microcable further includes a polymer insulation layer at least partially surrounding the core cable and at least one electrode.

Microlead for detection/stimulation, implantable in venous, arterial or lymphatic networks

A screwless quick connection system for connecting a lead connector to a generator of an active implantable medical device is shown and described. The connector head includes a housing receiving a plug of a lead connector. A mechanism for locking the plug into the housing is provided by a U-folded leaf spring. Each branch of the U is provided with a respective hole sized so that the plug passes through the holes on both branches when it is inserted into the housing. The blade is deformable between a free state, in the absence of plug, and a deformed state, with the plug inserted therein. In the free state, both holes are misaligned, while in the deformed state they are aligned. In this way, an edge of both holes exerts by reaction a radial stress force against the smooth outer surface of the plug inserted therein.

Screwless quick system for connecting a lead connector to a generator of an implantable medical device

One embodiment of the invention relates to a multipolar lead for implantation in a venous, arterial, or lymphatic network, and for use with an electric stimulation or detection device. The invention includes at least two microcables, each having a central conductor for connection to the electric stimulation or detection device. The invention further includes a first ring having at least two lumens, each sized to receive a microcable of the at least two microcables, wherein one of the at least two lumens is a connection lumen which receives a first microcable of the at least two microcables. The ring further includes a connection element movable into the connection lumen to pierce a sheath of the first microcable and to press into the central conductor of the first microcable received by the connection lumen, electrically connecting at least a portion of the first ring to the central conductor.

Nano multipole rings for medical microleads

A lead for an implantable cardiac prosthesis, with protection against the thermal effects of MRI fields by terminating the lead head () with an electrically insulating tubular outer housing () and an anchoring mechanism. The tubular housing () carries an electrically isolated thermally conductive solid part in the outer region of its distal end forming a heat sink. The heat sink thermally conductive material is for example titanium, associated with an electrically insulating coating such as a diamond deposition. The anchor may be a projecting helical anchoring screw (), axially extending the tubular housing, which is an electrically conductive active screw on at least one end portion.
