The invention relates to a method for performing a movement correction when measuring a human eye, in which the eye is scanned by a measurement beam in order to obtain a set of position values of an eye structure. Scanning extends over a measurement time interval, wherein the position values are each provided with a timestamp within the measurement time interval. A surface shape and a displacement function are determined, with the displacement function representing a movement pattern during the measurement time interval, and the surface shape and the displacement function being determined in such a way that the position values are approximated by the surface shape when the surface shape is moved according to the displacement function. Moreover, the invention relates to an associated measurement system.

Method for performing a movement correction when measuring eyes, and measurement system

A cutting device for cutting a sternum of a patient comprises a laser source, a beam adjusting structure, a support and a correction arrangement. The laser source is adapted to generate a cut laser beam. The beam adjusting structure is arranged for directing the laser beam along a predefined cut geometry at the sternum. The support carries the laser source. The support has a mounting structure adapted to be fixed to a rib cage of the patient such that the laser source is in a predefined position with respect to the sternum. The correction arrangement is adapted to automatically identify a movement of the laser source relative to the sternum causing the cut laser beam to deviate from the predefined cut geometry and adjust the position of the laser source relative to the sternum to correct the deviation of the cut laser beam with respect to the predefined cut geometry.

Laser sternotome

A method of cutting a bone () comprises the steps of: preparing the bone () in order to be accessible to an osteotomic instrument; predefining an osteotomic geometry on the bone (); and applying the osteotomic instrument to the bone () thereby cutting the bone () along the osteotomic geometry and generating a cut surface () to the bone (). The method further comprises delivering a laser beam to the cut surface () of the bone () such that the cut surface () of the bone () is ablated. The method according to the invention allows to improve healing of a bone at its cut surface after being cut by the osteotomic instrument.

Bone cut treatment

An apparatus for determining a position and orientation of first and second rigid bodies in relation to each other. The apparatus includes a light source mounted to the first rigid body, an image sensor mounted to either the first or second rigid body and positioned in a field of light, a shadow mask mounted to either the first or second rigid body and arranged in the field of light, and a computation unit configured to calculate at least one angle by evaluating a shadow image which passes the shadow mask and is detected by the image sensor. The apparatus may include a mechanical constraint mounted to the first and second rigid bodies that defines a fixed distance between the first and second rigid bodies, is stationary in relation to one of the first or second rigid body, and is variably inclinable in relation to the other.

Apparatus and method for determining the orientation and position of two rigid bodies

A photoablation device includes a laser source to propagate a focused laser beam with a beam waist, wherein a radius of the beam increases from the waist in a direction of propagation of the beam; an adjusting structure to adjust an intensity of the beam; a position detector to detect a position of the source in relation to the tissue; a positioning device to move the source in relation to the tissue; and a controller. The controller is to define a photoablation zone of the beam, wherein the zone ends in a cutting face located offset from the waist in the direction of propagation; adjust the intensity of the beam at the face of the zone using the adjusting structure; and move the beam towards the tissue by using the positioning device, wherein the position of the source detected by the position detector is evaluated.

Depth controlled photoablation of human or animal tissue

In a method for interferometrically capturing measurement points of a region of an eye, a plurality of measurement points are captured by a measurement beam along a trajectory, wherein the same trajectory is passed over by the measurement beam in the region during at least a first iteration and a second iteration. The trajectory of the first iteration is rotated through an angle and/or displaced by a distance in relation to the trajectory of the second iteration in order to obtain a more homogeneous measurement point distribution.

Eye measurement

A computer assisted surgery apparatus includes a surgical instrument having an intervention member to cut tissue of a body part of a patient; a control unit arranged to control position and orientation of the intervention member in relation to the body part with regard to a predefined osteotomic line on the body part; and a tracking device arranged to track a position and orientation of the body part. The surgical instrument includes an optical monitoring system mounted in relation to the intervention member, wherein the optical monitoring system is arranged to continuously detect positions of marks applied to the body part, and the control unit is arranged to adjust position and/or orientation of the intervention member when a predefined deviation of the positions of the marks is detected. The surgery apparatus allows for application of cuts in the body part at comparably complex cutting geometries and at comparably high precision.

Computer assisted surgery apparatus and method of cutting tissue

Method for planning a process of cutting human or animal bone tissue. The method includes: obtaining initial data of an initial situation of the bone tissue; defining target data of a target situation of the bone tissue; and computing a cut geometry using the initial data and the target data for cutting the bone tissue apart. The cut geometry includes a structure such that the bone tissue is reassemblable at least in one degree of freedom in the target situation after being cut apart along the cut geometry. By shaping the structure of the cut geometry according to the target situation the planned cut can be provided with a particular function. Such a functional cut can geometrically define and restrict possible movements of cut apart bone portions. The functional cut can allow for comparably precisely repositioning the bone into the target position and any movement therefrom can be prevented.
