The invention relates to a rotorcraft cockpit having a left seat and a right seat placed side-by-side, a console extending between the seats, two side sticks, one situated to the right of the right seat and the other situated to the left of the left seat, enabling the pilot to control roll and pitch; a flight control system comprising sensors associated with the side sticks and a computer connected to the sensors serves to convert the orders applied by the pilot to the side sticks into signals for controlling actuators in order to vary roll and pitch; a piloting relationship integrated in the computer stabilizes the response of the rotorcraft in roll and in pitch when a side stick is actuated, and maintains the attitudes in roll and pitch at reference values when neither side stick is actuated.

A flight control system for controlling the pitch of an aircraft having a vertical takeoff capability and an orientable lift direction may include a first device, to which a pitch command determined by a computing unit is applied, for actuating an element acting on the pitch of the aircraft. A second device of the flight control system receives an orientation order to actuate an element altering the orientation of the lift direction. Another device determines an orientation order for optimizing a flight parameter based on the pitch command determined by the computing unit. Yet another device subtracts from the pitch command the pitch contribution due to actuating the orientation element. The difference value acts as a pitch command to the first device.

A cyclic stick system for a helicopter or other aircraft includes memories for holding minimum and maximum speed values, a comparator for comparing an air speed V1 with the minimum and maximum speed values, a router for selecting either the air speed V1 or a quiescent speed, a subtracter for obtaining a difference between the output of the router and a reference speed, another router for selecting between the difference and a signal representing an orientation of the stick, and a switch for selecting times when the air speed V1 is to be stored as the reference speed. On the basis of the air speed V1 and under the control of the device for retrimming said cyclic stick, the system acts on the motorization of stick in order to confer on the helicopter apparent longitudinal static stability in terms of forces on the cyclic stick so that to accelerate (or decelerate) and maintain a new higher (or lower) speed. The force applied to the cyclic stick is always in the direction of pushing (or of pulling) outside of any deliberate retrimming action.

A cyclic stick system for a helicopter includes sensors for measuring at least one parameter representative of the current flight status of the helicopter. In response to the at least one parameter, the cyclic stick system either (1) continuously and automatically recenters the forces on the cyclic stick, thus canceling out the residual static forces, or (2) allows the pilot fully to feel the countering action of the elastic return device on the cyclic stick.

A rudder bar system for a helicopter controlled in yaw by acting on the tail rotor or an equivalent device has a capability, as a function of the parameters representative of the current flight status of the helicopter, of either automatically continuously recentering the forces on the rudder bar, which cancels out the residual static forces and gives the pilot a tactile sensation close to that given by a friction-type rudder bar, or allowing the pilot fully to feel the countering action of an elastic return device such as a spring.

A helicopter comprising: a single main rotor for forwards motion and for support; and an anti-torque system comprising: an auxiliary, anti-torque rotor rotated from the engine means of said main rotor and exerting controllable anti-torque lateral thrust; and at least one steering airfoil that is controllable in steering and that generates anti-torque transverse lift.
