Various embodiments of systems and methods for providing a set of placement options to a user when a new report object is requested to be placed in an area of the report are described herein. One or more existing report objects are associated with the area of the report. The set of placement options are determined based on at least one of the following: area type of the area in which the new report object is requested to be placed and a semantic relationship between the new report object and the one or more existing report objects. In one embodiment, the area of the report includes a sub-area. The set of placement options for a sub-area is determined based on the semantic relationship of new report objects and the existing report objects associated with the area and the sub-area.

Semantically guided report design

A particular method includes selecting a subset of a plurality of dimension members of a multi-dimensional data set. The method also includes computing a plurality of dimensional scores for the dimension members in the selected subset. Each dimensional score is associated with a particular dimension member in the subset and is a measure of a dimensional influence of the associated dimension member on a metric associated with the multi-dimensional data set. A dimension member with greater dimensional influence affects a value of the metric over a population more than a dimension member with less dimensional influence. The method further includes ranking the dimension members in the selected subset based on the dimensional scores.

Apparatus, systems and methods for dynamic on-demand context sensitive cluster analysis

Embodiments of apparatus, systems and methods facilitate performing on-demand cluster analysis on a multi-dimensional data set comprising a plurality of dimension members. In some embodiments, the method comprises: selecting a subset of the plurality of dimension members based on a current context associated with the multi dimensional data set; computing a plurality of dimensional scores for a plurality of dimension members in the selected subset, wherein each dimensional score is associated with a distinct dimension member and measures the dimensional influence of the associated dimension member on a metric associated with the multi-dimensional data set; and ranking the plurality of dimension members in the selected subset based on the dimensional score.

A computer-readable medium is configured to receive a report processing request at a hierarchical report processor. The hierarchical report processor includes a parent process and at least one child process executing on a single processing unit, and is configured to process the report processing request as a task on the single processing unit.

Apparatus and method for persistent report serving

In an embodiment, a method is provided for tracking a state of a document that is accessible over a computer network. In this method, requests to modify the document are received by way of the computer network. A size of a set of these requests are identified to exceed a threshold size and an identifier that identifies this set of requests is generated. The identifier is then transmitted in a response to the requests by way of the computer network.

The invention includes a computer readable medium with executable instructions to generate a report. The executable instructions include executable instructions to supply a prompt group corresponding to a cascading prompt. A list of values is accessed to identify values to be supplied to the prompt group. Prompt presentation values are selected in accordance with access restrictions for a specified user. Parameters are selected based upon the prompt presentation values. A report is then generated based upon the parameters. Thus, the specified user receives a personalized report in accordance with the access restrictions.
