Certain types of fish respond differently to certain stimuli than other types of fish. Particularly, predetermined sound or vibration can cause certain types of fish to move away or jump. These reactions by particular types of fish can be used to capture the fish or prevent them from accessing parts of water systems. An exemplary capture mechanism employs multiple receptacles adapted to catch jumping fish from the air. An exemplary barrier of directed sound can prevent fish migration.

Resonant ultrasonic barriers and methods for generating them

A vine removal device may include a shaft connected to a hook with a pocket. An actuation mechanism, such as a line connected to a user's belt, can actuate a movable jaw having a jaw projection configured to at least partly fit within the pocket. The hook has blade that supports a vine slide surface that facilitates collection of vines in the pocket where they can be gripped by the projection of the movable jaw. The blade may employ a surface skimmer to limit how deep the blade can penetrate the soil.

Systems and methods for manipulating fish

A system for measuring output voltage from a photodetector. The system includes a photodetector that generates a photodetector output signal, a ramp generator that generates a ramp signal and a comparator that outputs a signal level based on which of the two signals is larger. The voltage level of the output of the phototransistor determines how long it will take for the ramp voltage to catch up and cross over the phototransistor voltage. The crossover time determines the width of an output signal and is directly proportional to the voltage level. A microcontroller can then determine the pulse width by multiple samplings and therefore determine photodetector voltage.

A pulsed photoemitter circuit may be arranged to expose a pulsed photodetector circuit. Both the photoemitter and the photodetector circuits may be exposed to a pulsed signal which may be effective to improve the response time of the photoemitter/detector pair. In one embodiment of the present invention, the phototransistor load is coupled to a photoemitter control signal.

A circuit for generating a clock signal is provided. The circuit includes a flip-flop having a first input and a second input. The flip-flop is operable to generate a first output signal and a second output signal. The circuit also includes a first delay chain and a second delay chain. The first delay chain is operable to receive the first output signal and generate a first delayed signal. The first delayed signal is then received by the first input of said flip-flop. The second delay chain is operable to receive the second output signal and generate a second delayed signal. The second delayed signal is then received by the second input of said flip-flop.
