The disclosure relates to methods for operating a pasteurizing device for pasteurizing foods filled into sealed containers. The foods are treated in treatment zones by applying a tempered, aqueous treatment liquid to an exterior of the containers. The treatment liquid is re-supplied to at least one treatment zone for reuse via circulation circuit pipes of a circulation circuit. A partial flow of the treatment liquid is continuously removed from the circulation circuit and filtered by means of a membrane filtration means. Furthermore, a biocide is apportioned to the treatment liquid as process chemical, such that a concentration of the biocide does not exceed 0.4 mmol/L. In addition, a pH-regulating agent comprising at least one inorganic or organic acid is apportioned to the treatment liquid as process chemical, such that a pH value of the treatment liquid is set to a range from 3.5 to 7.0.

Method for operating a pasteurization apparatus

A method is provided for cleaning a system by conducting continuously through the system a cleaning composition including at least one oxidizing agent and an indicator for detecting the cleanliness of the system by observation of a color change of the indicator. Color values are determined at one or more points and compared with a setpoint value. Color values F are determined at fixed time intervals after exit of the composition from the system; differences &#x394;F are formed from two color successive values; color values are determined before commissioning of the clean system until the difference &#x394;F=0, after which the color value measured last is defined as an inherent system value Fand a maximum tolerable deviation from this value is fixed as a setpoint value &#x394;Ffor cleaning; and cleaning of the system is carried out after operation of the system until a difference of &#x2264;&#x394;Fis measured.

Method for cleaning systems

A composition including at least one strong oxidant, a color indicating system, and one or more thickening agents is provided. A method of using the composition on an aqueous basis includes detecting any contaminants on a surface with organic substances by visual control after superficially applying the composition to the surface. The composition is not flowable for a predefined period after the superficial application due to the effect of the thickening agent. The one or more thickening agents are stable in the composition during the predefined period, and are selected from synthetic sheet silicates, pyrogenic silicic acid, fatty alkyl (benzene) sulfates, sulfonates, carboxylates, phosphates and aminoxides and mixtures thereof. A color change in the composition applied to the surface during the predefined period indicates that organic contaminants are present on a portion of the surface.

Detecting organic contaminants

A cleaning, disinfection, and indicator agent comprising a water-soluble permanganate, particularly for mixture with an agent for ensuring an alkaline milieu having a pH value of at least 11, which, in addition to the water-soluble permanganate, contains a further oxidizing agent, whose oxidation potential is above that of manganese VII to manganese VI, pH buffer substances, preferably primary and/or secondary alkali carbonates such as sodium carbonate and/or sodium hydrogen carbonate, as well as oxidation-resistant polyphosphates. Furthermore, methods for cleaning, disinfecting, and monitoring the cleanliness of commercial and industrial plants or plant components and the use of an agent according to the present invention as an indicator solution for ascertaining the cleanliness of commercial and industrial plants or plant components by ascertaining the intensity of the light emitted in the violet wavelength range by the solution are described.
