A double-sided cutting insert with orientation-assisting geometry includes identical and opposite first and second main surfaces and a peripheral surface which extends therebetween. The insert further includes a median plane located midway between the first and second main surfaces and opposite first and second clamping recesses opening out respectively to the first and second main surfaces. Projections onto the median plane of at least portions of the first and second clamping recesses are rotationally offset from one another about a central axis.

A cutting tool includes a tool holding system having a clamping portion. The clamping portion includes an integrally formed one-piece inner coupling member that at least partially forms a clamping sleeve portion having a clamping bore for clampingly receiving a cutting insert. The clamping portion also includes an integrally formed one-piece outer coupling member that is circumferentially disposed about at least a portion of the inner coupling member. The tool holding system also has a mounting portion that is connected to one of the inner and outer coupling members. The inner and outer coupling members are captively and non-releasably engaged with each other via inter-engaged first and second engagement surfaces that are slidingly displaceable with respect to each other.

A swiss turning tool assembly includes an insert and a tool holder. The tool holder includes a head portion which in turn includes an insert pocket and a fastener hole opening out to a flank side of the tool and to a pocket opening in the insert pocket. The insert pocket also includes a tool clamping arrangement which in turn includes a tool base surface and at least one tool abutment surface forming an external acute angle with the tool base surface. The insert includes an insert base surface which in turn includes at least one insert abutment surface forming an internal acute angle with the insert base surface. To achieve a clamped position, a single fastener, accessed from the tool's flank side abuts the insert.

A string instrument comprising an instrument body, a neck, a bridge, and at least one string extending forwardly and rearwardly over the instrument body. The instrument body is topped by a sound table. The bridge may be removably located onto the sound table by virtue of a tension applied to the at least one string.

Bridge for stringed instrument

A cutting tool has a cutting insert secured in a tool shank by means of a clamping bolt, whereby two opposing side surfaces of a body portion of the cutting insert are located between two spaced apart protuberances of the tool shank. The body portion includes a cut-out extending between the two opposing side surfaces and opening out to a bottom surface. The cut-out includes an undercut with at least one undercut sub-surface with respect to a forward direction. The clamping bolt can be rotated from a locked position wherein the bolt shank has a threaded portion engaged in one of the protuberances and a bolt locking portion located directly forward of the at least one undercut sub-surface, to an un-locked position wherein the threaded portion remains engaged in the protuberance and no portion of the bolt shank is located directly forward of the at least one undercut sub-surface.

A double-sided cutting insert has top and bottom surfaces and two major side surfaces connected by two minor side surfaces. Each major side surface has two distinct relief surfaces which are inclined in opposite directions and merge at a transition surface extending between top and bottom surfaces. A first major cutting edge is defined between the first relief surface and the top surface and a second major cutting edge is defined between the second relief surface and the bottom surface. Each major cutting edge is tangent to an associated transition cutting edge defined between the transition surface and the insert top or insert bottom surface. An insert holder for the insert has three support sections accordant with three abutment sections of the insert.

Cutting insert and cutting tool

A cutting head of a reamer has a cutting head forward end, a cutting head rear end distal the cutting head forward end, and a peripheral surface therebetween. The peripheral surface has at least two wiping pads that extend rearwardly from the cutting head forward end. At least one cutting section extends between two consecutive wiping pads and has a chip evacuation flute that extends rearwardly from the cutting head forward end and a cutting edge that is formed at the intersection of a rake surface and a relief surface. A chip former extends rearwardly from the rake surface. The chip former has a front portion that is slanted rearwardly and downwardly from the rake surface, and, a rear portion that is slanted rearwardly and upwardly with respect to the rake surface. A rear end of the rear portion joins the chip evacuation flute and form therewith a forming internal angle.

Cutting head of a reamer

A rotary cutting tool having a longitudinal axis defining forward and rearward directions and a direction of rotation, includes a cutting head releasably mounted to a front end of a tool shank. The cutting head includes a cap portion and a rearwardly extending tail portion. The cap portion is provided with a plurality of head segments, each head segment having a rotationally leading end facing the direction of rotation and a rotationally trailing end. The trailing end of each head segment is provided with a locking member which extends in a direction opposite the direction of rotation. The tool shank has a forward end provided with a corresponding plurality of locking recesses opening out to the direction of rotation, and a shank pocket recess. In the assembled tool, the tail portion of the cutting head is received into the shank pocket recess and each of the plurality of locking members is received into a corresponding locking recess.

Rotary cutting tool having releasably mounted self-clamping cutting head with locking member

A cutting insert holder for releasably clamping a quadrilateral cutting insert in a predetermined clamping position, the cutting insert having a through bore and a non-obtuse insert mounting corner. The cutting insert holder includes a clamping portion formed with a wedge supporting surface and a locking pin received in the through bore. A clamping wedge abuts the wedge supporting surface and has an insert receiving pocket with a pair of pocket side walls forming an insert receiving corner for receiving the insert mounting corner. In a top view of the base surface a normal to the wedge supporting surface passing through a center of the locking pin passes through a first pocket side wall of the pair of pocket side walls.
