A method provides binaural sound to a person through electronic earphones. The binaural sound localizes to a sound localization point (SLP) in empty space that is away from but proximate to the person. When an event occurs, the binaural sound switches or changes to stereo sound, to mono sound, or to altered binaural sound.

A wearable electronic device (WED) corrects an error where a user hears binaural sound. A processor processes sound into binaural sound that localizes to the user at a location, and the WED determines a gaze direction of the user when the user hears the binaural sound. The WED corrects an error between the location and the gaze direction.

A method or apparatus switches between binaural sound and stereo sound in response to head movements of a listener. An electronic device provides the listener with binaural sound at a sound localization point (SLP) in a field-of-view of the listener. Binaural sound at the SLP switches to one of mono or stereo sound when head movements of the listener cause the SLP to move outside the field-of-view.

One or more electronic devices include one or more processors that process different segments or channels of an audio signal of sound for a user. The one or more processors process a first segment or channel of the sound with first HRTFs so the first segment or channel externally localizes in front of and to a right of a head of the user and process a second segment or channel of the sound with second HRTFs so the second segment or channel externally localizes in front of and to a left of the head of the user.

A method plays sound clips in binaural sound to users during an electronic communication between two or more users. A processor convolves the sound clips with HRTFs so the sound externally localize away from a head of the user listening to the sound clip. The sound clips play to users during the electronic communication without transmitting the sound clips to electronic devices of the users.

Wearable electronic glasses (WEG) of a first user display an image of an object on which a second user desires instructions how to complete a task. The WEG displays an augmented reality (AR) image of the object and captures hand gestures of the first user the completing the task on the AR image of the object. A smartphone of the second user displays the AR image and AR hands replicating movements of the hand gestures of the first user completing the task.

This location is shared such that an electronic device processes the binaural sound to externally localize to a second user at a second location.
