The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of a) polymer particles having a z-average particle size in the range of from 50 nm to 500 nm; b) anion exchange resin particles having a Dmedian particle size in the range of from 0.1 μm to 50 μm; and c) polymeric organic microspheres having a Dmedian particle size in the range of from 1 μm to 20 μm, wherein the weight-to-weight ratio of polymer particles to microspheres is in the range of from 0.5:1 to 20:1. The composition of the present invention is useful for paint compositions that form matte finishes with an excellent balance of stain blocking and stain removal properties.

The present invention relates to a paint composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of a) polymer particles having an average particle size in the range of from 80 nm to 500 nm; b) polymeric organic crosslinked microspheres having a particle size in the range of from 1 μm to 20 μm; c) polysiloxane particles having a particle size in the range of from 1 μm to 30 μm; d) a rheology modifier; e) an opacifying white pigment having a refractive index of >1.9; and f) less than 10 weight percent of a low Tpolyurethane. The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of submicron-sized polymer particles and micron-sized polymer beads, wherein the polymer particles or beads or both are functionalized with phosphorus acid groups. The composition of the present invention is useful for providing a matte finish on substrates, such as leather, textiles, wallboard, decorative coatings, concrete, and wood, with improved stain resistance. The present invention also relates to a leather substrate coated with a clear matte finish comprising an acrylic or styrene-acrylic polymer film and micron-sized polymer beads, wherein the film or the beads or both are functionalized with a phosphorus acid monomer.
