An optical sensing module suitable for wearable devices, the optical sensing module comprising: a silicon or silicon nitride transmitter photonic integrated circuit (PIC), the transmitter PIC comprising: a plurality of lasers, each laser of the plurality of lasers operating at a wavelength that is different from the wavelength of the others; an optical manipulation region, the optical manipulation region comprising one or more of: an optical modulator, optical multiplexer (MUX); and additional optical manipulation elements; and one or more optical outputs for light originating from the plurality of lasers.

Optical sensing module

A noninvasive blood pressure monitor. The noninvasive blood pressure monitor may include an inflatable cuff, a pressure transducer, one or more air pumps, and a processor. The processor may control the air pump(s) so as to initiate inflation of the cuff. The processor may also identify an oscillometric signal in an output of the pressure transducer, and may determine an envelope of the oscillometric signal. The processor may also determine one or more characteristics of the envelope of the oscillometric signal, and may control the air pump(s) so as to stop inflation of the cuff based on the one or more characteristics of the envelope of the oscillometric signal.

Patient monitoring systems, devices, and methods

A wearable device. In some embodiments, the wearable device includes: a sensing module; and a strap attached to the sensing module, the wearable device being configured to be worn by a user, with a lower surface of the sensing module in contact with the user, the strap extending over an upper surface of the sensing module.

Wearable device

Continuous core body temperature measurements are made during hypothermic operations, where the core body temperature of the patient is lowered to reduce swelling. Caregivers monitor the patient's core body temperature to prevent damage that can occur to the patient if the patient's core body temperature becomes too low. To accurately determine the core body temperature of the patient, a temperature monitoring system measures the temperature at or near the surface of the patient and through at least a portion of a thermal block at multiple locations.

Core body temperature measurement

A patient monitor can noninvasively measure a physiological parameter using sensor data from different measurement sites on a patient. The patient monitor can combine all sensor data from different measurement sites into a raw or minimally processed data form to generate a single, robust measurement of the physiological parameter. An optical sensor of a patient monitor can include multiple photodetectors each configured to generate a signal when detecting light attenuated by the patient's tissue. A measurement of a physiological parameter can be determined based on at least in part on the multiple signals from the multiple photodetectors.

Multi-site noninvasive measurement of a physiological parameter

The present disclosure describes the derivation and measurement of a fractional oxygen saturation measurement. In one embodiment, a system includes an optical sensor and a processor. The optical sensor can emit light of multiple wavelengths directed at a measurement site of tissue of a patient, detect the light after attenuation by the tissue, and produce a signal representative of the detected light after attenuation. The processor can receive the signal representative of the detected light after attenuation and determine, using the signal, a fractional oxygen saturation measurement based on two or more different measures of fractional oxygen saturation.

Robust fractional saturation determination

A patient monitor can noninvasively measure a physiological parameter using sensor data from a nose sensor configured to be secured to a nose of the patient. The nose sensor can include an emitter and a detector. The detector is configured to generate a signal when detecting light attenuated by the nose tissue of the patient. An output measurement of the physiological parameter can be determined based on the signals generated by the detector. The nose sensor can include an inner prong and an outer prong to assist the nose sensor in securing to a patient's nose. The detector can be coupled to an inner post of the inner prong and can be configured to secure to an interior or exterior portion of the patient's nose.

Nose sensor

Various patient monitoring systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for monitoring physiological parameters of a patient. A noninvasive blood pressure monitor can include an inflatable cuff, a pressure transducer, an air pump, and a plurality of air paths connecting the inflatable cuff, the pressure transducer, and the air pump. The monitor can also include an acoustic filter provided along at least one of the air paths. In some cases, the monitor can include first and second air pumps, as well as a processor to independently control operating characteristics of the air pumps. The processor can also control the air pumps so as to provide a first inflation rate for the inflatable cuff during a non-measurement portion of an inflation phase and a second, higher inflation rate during a measurement portion of the inflation phase.

A computer-implemented method to improve the accuracy of a calculation of a biomarker value from a spectral measurement. The computer-implemented method comprises receiving a primary spectral measurement from a primary detector, receiving, a secondary measurement from a secondary detector, and calculating a value of the biomarker using a biomarker algorithm. The biomarker algorithm takes an input from the primary spectral measurement and a calibration parameter from the secondary measurement.

A patient monitor can noninvasively measure a physiological parameter using sensor data from a nose sensor configured to be secured to a nose of the patient. The nose sensor can include an emitter and a detector. The detector is configured to generate a signal when detecting light attenuated by the nose tissue of the patient. An output measurement of the physiological parameter can be determined based on the signals generated by the detector. The nose sensor can include a diffuser configured to disseminate light exiting from the emitter into or around a portion of the patient's body. The nose sensor can also include a lens configured to focus light into the detector.
