An insulator for a spark plug comprises a first segment surrounding the terminal, a second segment extending from the first segment, and a third segment extending from the second segment. A gap is disposed between the third segment of the insulator and the outer shell. At least one coating having a least one layer is disposed on a surface of the third segment.

A spark plug includes an insulator having a first end, the insulator having a center axis and a center electrode coupled to the insulator and having a center electrode tip extending beyond the first end of the insulator. The spark plug further includes a ground electrode having an end spaced from an end of the center electrode, the ground electrode having a first portion extending substantially parallel to the center axis and a second portion extending at an angle from the first portion and relative to the center axis. A ground electrode tip is disposed on the second portion of the ground electrode, wherein the ground electrode tip is spaced from the center electrode tip. A ring member is operatively connected to the center electrode proximate the center electrode tip.

A filter is disclosed herein, the filter having: a plurality of sheets of filter media, each sheet of filter media having an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein each of the plurality of sheets of filter media has a first layer of filtration media thermoformed to have a plurality of channels, the first layer having an upper surface and a lower surface; a second layer of filtration media sonically welded to a portion of to the first layer of filtration media after the first layer is formed with the plurality of channels, wherein at least one edge of the first layer is not sonically welded to at least one edge of the second layer, and wherein the sheet of filtration media has a plurality of fluid channels each having an inlet opening at the at least one edge of the first layer and the second layer and a sealed end at another end of the sheet; wherein each of the plurality of sheets of filter media are secured together by a strip of adhesive located between each upper surface of each first layer facing the second layer of another sheet of filter media stacked upon the upper surface of the first layer of the filtration media; and wherein each of the plurality of fluid channels are also in fluid communication with at least one other of the plurality of fluid channels through an opening located between the at least one edge of the first layer and the second layer and the sealed end.

A diesel particulate filter assembly configured to be incorporated into an exhaust treatment device, the diesel filter assembly comprising: a ceramic media disposed about a center support defining an outlet flow path; a pair of end supports secured to the center support and the ceramic media; and an end cone secured to one of the pair of end supports.

A filter formed by the following steps is provided. The steps including: forming a plurality of sheets of filter media, each sheet of filter media having an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein each of the plurality of sheets of filter media are formed by the steps of: thermoforming a first layer of filtration media to have a plurality of channels, the first layer having an upper surface and a lower surface; sonically welding a portion of a second layer of filtration media to the first layer of filtration media after the first layer is thermoformed to form the sheet of filtration media, wherein at least one edge of the first layer is not sonically welded to at least one edge of the second layer, wherein the sheet of filtration media has a plurality of fluid channels each having an inlet opening at the at least one edge of the first layer and the second layer and a sealed end at another end of the sheet; and securing the plurality of sheets together by applying a strip of adhesive between each upper surface of each first layer facing the second layer of another sheet of filter media stacked upon the upper surface of the first layer of the filtration media.

A cast formed filter and a method for making the filter are provided. The cast formed filter includes a cast formed filter media having an inlet end, an outlet end, a plurality of inlet openings, a plurality of outlet openings, and a fluid path. The plurality of inlet openings extend from the inlet end into the cast formed filter media, wherein a first portion of the cast formed filter media is disposed between each of the plurality of inlet openings and the outlet end. The plurality of outlet openings extend from the outlet end into the cast formed filter media, wherein a second portion of the cast formed filter media is disposed between each of the plurality of outlet openings and the inlet end, the second portion comprising at least a portion of the first portion of cast formed filter media. The fluid path extends through at least one of the plurality of inlet openings and through at least one of the plurality of outlet openings, wherein fluid flowing through the fluid path is filtered by the cast formed filter media.

A filter and method of making is provided. The method comprising: forming a plurality of sheets of filter media, each sheet of filter media having an inlet end and an outlet end, wherein each of the plurality of sheets of filter media are formed by the steps of: thermoforming a first layer of filtration media to have a plurality of channels, the first layer having an upper surface and a lower surface; sonically welding a portion of a second layer of filtration media to the first layer of filtration media to form the sheet of filtration media, the sheet of filtration media having a plurality of fluid channels each having an inlet opening at one end of the sheet and a sealed end at another end of the sheet; and securing the plurality of sheets together by applying a strip of adhesive between each upper surface of each first layer facing the second layer of another sheet of filter media stacked upon the upper surface of the first layer of the filtration media.

An inlet conduit for an engine air induction system, comprising: a plurality of openings located about the inlet conduit; a hydrocarbon vapor-adsorbent member disposed on an exterior surface of the inlet conduit, the hydrocarbon vapor-adsorbent member covering the plurality of openings; and a covering member secured over the hydrocarbon vapor-adsorbent member, the covering member sealing the hydrocarbon vapor-adsorbent member to the inlet conduit, wherein hydrocarbon vapors present in the air induction system after engine shut-down are substantially retained in the hydrocarbon vapor-adsorbent member until air flows through the air induction system after the engine starts.

An oil-conditioning filter, for use with an internal combustion engine, includes a filter element and an additive cartridge, for gradually dispensing an oil additive over time. The additive cartridge has a beneficial oil-conditioning agent contained therein. Placement of the cartridge allows for fluid filtration through the filter element before fluid communication with the additive of the additive cartridge. An additive dispersing member is also described.
