An aerosol dispenser is formed from a metal drawn container with an open bottom and a mounting cup structure integrally formed in its top. A bottom piece is attached to the open bottom with a double seam and a dispensing device held in the mounting cup structure. In one embodiment the dispensing device is an anti-clog valve designed to clear all dispensing passages after each operation.

In one embodiment, an arrangement for assembly to a squeeze bottle having a threaded neck with an opening at its outer end upon filling of the bottle is provided. The squeeze bottle has a dispensing nozzle unit adapted to be fixedly inserted into the opening and the nozzle unit includes a lower cylindrical part terminating in a flange at its outer end. A washer, through which the cylindrical part is adapted to extend, is interposed between the flange and the outer end of said neck with a hinged tab formed as part of and extending from the washer. Also included is a cover for the nozzle having internal threads to screw onto the neck. The cover has a recess formed therein, the recess having a vertical wall, such that, when said cover is screwed on the neck, the hinged tab will have a portion abutting the wall and preventing movement, unless the tab is pushed in so that the portion clears the wall.

Childproof attachment for a dispenser

An attachment for an aerosol dispensing package includes an actuator having at least one cam and a mounting cap having an upstanding wall and at least one inner rim to engage the cam. The actuator includes a spray nozzle and a downwardly extending projection, in fluid communication with the spray nozzle, to sealingly engage an upwardly projecting stem of an aerosol valve when the actuator is in a dispensing position. The cam engages the inner rim to lower the actuator to the dispensing position and raise the actuator to the non-dispensing position. The upstanding wall at least partially surrounds the actuator, and includes a lateral opening adjacent to the spray nozzle when the actuator is in the non-dispensing position, and a spray opening adjacent to the spray nozzle when the actuator is in the dispensing position. A nozzle closure, having a projection fitting into the lateral opening and the spray nozzle, may be hingedly attached to the mounting cap. The nozzle closure projection may seal the spray nozzle when the actuator is in the non-dispensing position. Safety and tamper evident tabs may also be included.

Aerosol dispenser

An aerosol dispensing device includes a rotating actuator, an upstanding wall partially surrounding the actuator, and a sliding nozzle closure. The actuator may include a spray nozzle and a downwardly extending projection, in fluid communication with the spray nozzle, to sealingly engage an upwardly projecting stem of an aerosol valve. The upstanding wall may include an upper opening, a lower opening below the upper opening, and a spray opening. The sliding nozzle closure may include an upper projection, fitting into the upper opening and the spray nozzle, to seal the spray nozzle when the actuator is in a non-dispensing position, and, a lower member, fitting into the lower opening, to facilitate the sliding movement of the nozzle closure.

Aerosol dispensing device

In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, an apparatus includes an actuator with a spray nozzle and an opening adjacent the spray nozzle. The actuator dispenses spray through an orifice in the spray nozzle when the actuator is depressed to operate a pump or an aerosol valve. A wall including the spray opening at least partially surrounds the actuator and the spray nozzle is aligned with the spray opening during dispensing whereby spray exiting the spray nozzle orifice passes through the spray opening. Also included is a nozzle closure, with a first projection and a second projection. The first projection, forming a sealing rim with an inner recess, fits into the opening adjacent the spray nozzle thereby sealing the spray nozzle. The nozzle closure has a hinge allowing pivotal movement of the nozzle closure from a closed position, at which the first projection fits into the opening in the wall adjacent the spray nozzle and the nozzle closure closes the spray opening, to an open position, where the spray opening is open to permit the spray to pass through the spray opening when the actuator is depressed. The second projection fits within the inner recess of the first projection, and, when the nozzle closure is in a closed position, the second projection sealingly engages the orifice of the spray nozzle and displaces any spray deposits that may have accumulated therein. In another embodiment, a third projection may also be provided on the nozzle closure. The third projection may be located on the closure between the hinge and the first projection and may fit in a recess in the actuator, engaging the recess when the nozzle closure is in a closed position and preventing actuation of the actuator when the nozzle closure is closed.

In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, an apparatus includes an actuator with a spray nozzle and an opening adjacent the spray nozzle. The actuator dispenses spray through the spray nozzle when the actuator is depressed to operate a pump or an aerosol valve. Also included is a nozzle closure with a first projection and a second projection. The first projection fits into a first opening adjacent the spray nozzle thereby sealing the spray nozzle, while the second projection fits into a second opening, below the first opening, thereby locking the actuator. The nozzle closure has a hinge allowing pivotal movement of the nozzle closure from a closed position, at which the spray opening is open, to a closed position, at which the spray opening is closed. When in the closed position, a degree of opening resistance between the nozzle closure and the actuator may provide a measure of child-resistance.

An embodiment of a safety closure for a container includes a sleeve which is fixed to the container inside of which a part is rotatable to place the container in a position where dispensing may take place. A recess in the sleeve with a vertical wall cooperates with an outwardly biased hinged tab on the rotatable part abutting the wall and preventing rotation, unless the tab is pushed in to clear the wall, while at the same time rotating the first part to said dispensing position.

An integrally formed container for complementary use with a mounting cup comprising a neck portion including an interior sealing surface adapted to contact an interior piston portion of a mounting cup and an exterior surface including a lower snap surface adapted to engage the upper snap surface of an exterior snap flange on the mounting cup and a rim surface forming a mouth and disposed between the interior sealing surface of said neck portion and the exterior surface of said neck portion.

Nozzle closures which are mounted for pivoting movement from a closed to an open position are used with a spray dispensing device. In the open position, the nozzle closure moves away from the spray nozzle on an actuator and a spray opening in a surrounding wall, allowing fluid to dispensed through the nozzle from a pump or aerosol valve, as the actuator is depressed. In the closed position, the nozzle closure pivots into a position where a first projection enters at least partially into the spray nozzle. The projection acts to seal the spray nozzle against air, thereby preventing drying of any fluid in the nozzle and reducing the chance that the spray nozzle will become clogged. The nozzle closure also includes a second projection which fits into a recess in the actuator and serves to provide resistance against depression of the actuator, thereby providing a locking function for the actuator to prevent accidental discharge from the spray nozzle. The sealing finger completely covers a spray opening in a wall surrounding the actuator.

Nozzle closures which are mounted for pivoting movement from a closed to an open position are used with a spray dispensing device. In the open position, the nozzle closure moves away from the spray nozzle on an actuator and a spray opening in a surrounding wall, allowing fluid to dispensed through the nozzle, as the actuator is depressed. In the closed position, the nozzle closure pivots into a position where a projection enters at least partially into the spray nozzle. A directional dispensing package which is easily shipped, filled and assembled is disclosed. The package includes a retaining opening into which a pump may be snap-fit by inserting the pump through an open end of the package. The package and pump can be assembled at a production site, and are thereafter shipped to a filling site with a bottom portion. The package can be filled through the open bottom end, and then the bottom portion sealingly affixed to the package. The package may include an integrally-molded dip tube structure, which can also serve as the pump housing. The dip tube structure may also be snapped into the package. The dip tube structures of the present invention allow easy assembly while preventing leakage. Various devices for allowing inverted dispensing are disclosed. The device of the present invention can be filled and finally assembled with a minimal number of steps, and is therefore particularly suited for quick-turnaround marketing.

The bottom portion may have an integrally molded dip tube structure. Various devices for allowing inverted dispensing are disclosed. Also, various devices for sealing the spray orifice are disclosed.
