An oven for treating a moving web has, within each zone (A), an incinerator (C) with a long holding period for receiving combustion products directly from a burner (B) and mixing them with process exhaust air from nozzles applying heated air to the web, and passing the products of the incinerator to a heat exchanger (E) for heating air from the nozzles prior to return of the heated air thereto.

Clean air oven with heat recovery and method

A tube dryer is illustrated wherein a plurality of spaced tubes extend outwardly from a plenum to direct heated air against material passing thereby on a conveyor. The tubes are connected by inverted substantially channel-shaped members transversely disposed across the material being heat treated. The channel-shaped members have a web portion in a plane parallel to the conveyor with the tubes extending through the web member. The web member affords support for the tubes insuring their proper positioning to direct air for accurate impingement upon the material such as fabric or a layer of particulate material passing thereby and prevents snagging of the conveyor or the material carried thereby against the ends of the tube.

Tube dryer assembly

A dryer range and the like wherein improved air flow means are provided for retaining heated air in contact with the web for maximum utilization of the heated air and for facilitating return of the spent air for reheating or for exhausting into the atmosphere to remove excess moisture or volatile material such as knitting oil and the like from the range. A pair of opposed air flow retaining baffles are carried by spaced plenums adjacent the fabric or web for thus retaining the air directed in streams against the web.
