A traveling wave amplifier circuit to receive an RF wave and an electron sheet beam and to effect synchronized interaction therebetween. The circuit includes a wave guide having at least a first wall and a second wall opposite the first wall. The first wall and the second wall are connected to define an axis of propagation and a rectangular wave guide cross-section that is normal to the axis of propagation. The circuit further includes a plurality of first projections located on an interior surface of the first wall of the wave guide, the first projections being pitched in a direction of the axis of propagation. The circuit further includes a plurality of second projections located on an interior surface of the second wall of the wave guide, the second projections being pitched in a direction of the axis of propagation. A number of the second projections are located on the interior surface of the second wall in a staggered configuration in a direction of the axis of propagation relative to a number of corresponding first projections located on the interior surface of the first wall.

An amplifier system is disclosed. The amplifier system includes a first amplifier, a second amplifier, and a phase noise suppression circuit. The first amplifier includes an input signal terminal and an output signal terminal. The second amplifier includes an input signal terminal and an output signal terminal. The input signal terminal of the second amplifier is coupled to the output signal terminal of the first amplifier. The phase noise suppression circuit includes first and second input terminals and an output terminal. The first input terminal of the phase noise suppression circuit is coupled to the input signal terminal of the first amplifier. The second input terminal of the phase noise suppression circuit is coupled to the output signal terminal of the second amplifier. The output terminal of the phase noise suppression circuit is coupled to the first amplifier.

System and method for noise and spurious suppression in power amplifier systems

A system includes a component having a signal input and a power supply input, wherein the power supply input is in communication with a power supply. The system also includes a voltage probe connected between the power supply input and the signal input, wherein the probe injects a compensating signal into the signal input to compensate for variations in an output signal of the power supply over time.

System and method for noise and spurious supression in power amplifier systems

An amplifier system. The amplifier system includes a vacuum tube amplifier, an electron source voltage modulation circuit, and a linearization circuit. The vacuum tube amplifier includes an input signal terminal and an output signal terminal. The electron source voltage modulation circuit includes an input terminal coupled to one of the input signal terminal and the output signal of the vacuum tube amplifier, and includes an output terminal coupled to one of an electron source of the vacuum tube amplifier and an interaction region of the vacuum tube amplifier. The linearization circuit is coupled to the input signal terminal of the vacuum tube amplifier. In conjunction with or instead of the electron source voltage modulation circuit, the amplifier circuit may additionally include an electron beam control circuit, including an input terminal coupled to one of the input signal terminal and the output signal of the vacuum tube amplifier, and including an output terminal coupled to the electron source of the vacuum tube amplifier.

System and method for linearizing vacuum electronic amplification

An amplifier system, including a vacuum tube amplifier having an input signal terminal and an output signal terminal, and a phase noise suppression circuit having first and second input terminals and an output terminal, wherein the first input terminal is coupled to the input signal terminal of the vacuum tube amplifier, the second input terminal is coupled to the output signal terminal of the vacuum tube amplifier, and the output terminal is coupled to one of an electron source of the vacuum tube amplifier and an interaction region of the vacuum tube amplifier. The amplifier system may also, or alternatively, include an amplitude noise suppression circuit having first and second input terminals and an output terminal, wherein the first input terminal is coupled to the input signal terminal of the vacuum tube amplifier, the second input terminal is coupled to the output signal terminal of the vacuum tube amplifier, and the output terminal is coupled to one of a focusing electrode of the electron source and a grid of the electron source.

A cooling apparatus and method for cooling a structure using boiling fluid acted upon by centrifugal force. The cooling apparatus has an actuator with a shaft, a heat transfer member with a heat transfer surface and a fluid passageway connected to the shaft and in thermal communication with the structure. The cooling apparatus can be used to cool the anode of an x-ray tube.
