An apparatus for controlling and monitoring a lubricating system having analog sensors and switches indicating the status of the lubricating system. An analog-to-digital converter is responsive to the analog sensors and switches and provides a plurality of digital sensing signals representative of the status of the lubricating system. A provided memory includes a nonvolatile memory for storing instructions. By using a keypad, an operator selects and inputs parameters into the nonvolatile memory. A microprocessor processes the digital sensing signals in accordance with the parameters stored in the nonvolatile memory. Relays are responsive to the microprocessor and initiate lubrication of the lubricating system. A display, responsive to the microprocessor, indicates the status of the lubricating system.

Apparatus for controlling and monitoring a lubricating system

An adapter to permit a temperature measuring instrument ordinarily used with a thermistor temperature sensor to be used with a temperature probe of the thermocouple type. The adapter has an output for connection to the temperature measuring instrument and has circuitry for processing the signal from the thermocouple probe to produce at the adapter output a resistance which a thermistor sensor would generate at the same temperature. A temperature measuring instrument for efficient use of an electrical source has circuitry for processing a temperature related signal according to a sequence of operations to provide an electrical variable having a value which is a function of the temperature being measured. The sequence commences with connection of the electrical source to the processing circuitry. At the completion of the sequence a signal indicative of completion is produced. In responsive to the completion signal the electrical source is disconnected from the processing circuitry. The electrical source is reconnected to the processing circuitry a predetermined time after the disconnection.

Temperature measuring instrument and adapter for same

A liquid level measurement system including a vertical linear member and a float. The linear member includes a plurality of electrical conductors, each representing one bit of a multiple bit Gray code and each including alternate portions which interact with the float to produce a signal in the conductor indicative of a logical '1' or '0'. The '1' portions and the '0' of the conductors form a unique binary code word at each position of the float. A phase comparator in a readout device attached to the conductors compares the signals from each conductor with a reference and constructs a unique address code word indicative of the position of the float. An inductor extending the length of the linear member powers the system, without electrical leads to the float.

Absolute digital position measurement system

A linear position measurement system including a linear member and a relatively movable member. The linear member includes a plurality of serpentine electrical conductors, each representing one bit of a multiple bit Gray code. At any longitudinal position of the movable member, an inductor in the movable member induces oppositely phased signals in those conductors which lie along a first long edge of the linear member and in those which lie along an opposite edge. A phase comparator in a readout device attached to the conductors compares the signals from each conductor with a reference and constructs a unique address code word indicative of the position of the movable member. The inductor in the movable member is activated through a special circuit which is powered by inductive coupling with a coil carried by the linear member.
