An annular pressure activated downhole tool has a housing including an outer surface, an inner surface defining a passage, an annular projection projecting into the passage from the inner surface, and an opening. A mandrel extends into the passage. The mandrel has a first end and a second end. A power spring support is detachably connected to the second end of the mandrel in the passage. A power spring is arranged about the mandrel and extends between the power spring support and the annular projection. A trigger housing is arranged in one of the mandrel and the power spring support. A trigger arranged in the trigger housing selectively engages with the inner surface. The trigger is operable to disengage from the inner surface of the housing, releasing the power spring, and shifting the mandrel along the passage when exposed to a selected annular pressure.

A method of activating an anchor with an anchor activation system including a housing having an outer surface and an inner surface defining an internal chamber includes introducing a first activation force to a trigger comprising a piston arranged in a piston cylinder extending radially through the outer surface to the internal chamber, sensing that the first activation force did not activate the anchor, and introducing a second activation force to the trigger without reconfiguring the anchor activation system to break a shear element retaining the piston with the first activation to release the piston and activate the anchor.

A window cutting system includes a whipstock connector including an inner surface having at least one projection. A window mill is connected to the whipstock connector. The window mill includes a body having a connector member, a tip portion, a recess formed on an outer surface of the body, an axial passage extending from the connector member toward the tip portion and a radial passage extending outwardly from the axial passage. A pin is arranged in the radial passage and selectively extending into the recess.

Mill to whipstock connection system

An anchor activation system including a housing having an outer surface, an inner surface defining an internal chamber, a first end, and a second end. A slip is shiftably mounted to the outer surface of the housing. The anchor activation system also includes a piston assembly and an activator mounted to the piston assembly. The activator selectively shifts the slip axially along the housing. A biasing member is arranged between the second end and the activator. A trigger is operable to selectively release the piston assembly.

A window cutting system includes a window mill having a body including a connector member, a tip portion, and a plurality of blades arranged between the connector member and the tip portion. Each of the plurality of blades supports a plurality of cutting elements. A lug pocket is formed in at least one of the plurality of blades adjacent the plurality of cutting elements. A whipstock connector detachably coupled to the window mill. The whipstock connector including an outer surface and an inner surface, and at least one lug projecting radially inwardly from the inner surface. The at least one lug is selectively received by the lug pocket to connect the whipstock connector to the window mill.

An anchor setting system having redundant setting methodologies including a housing having an internal chamber. The housing has an outer surface, an inner surface, a first end, and a second end. A slip is shiftably mounted to the outer surface of the housing. A piston assembly including a piston element is arranged in the housing. The piston element includes a conduit and is shiftably mounted in the internal chamber. An activator is mounted to the piston assembly. The activator selectively shifts the slip axially along the housing in response to movement of the piston element.

Casing exit anchor with redundant setting system

A one trip bottom hole assembly allows setting and testing a plug and release from the plug. Cement can be pumped onto the plug, after the BHA is raised, to an extent to meet local regulatory requirements. The cutter spear combination can be activated with pressure built on a second dropped ball larger than the first ball to release the blades for extension with fluid circulation. The circulation path through the spear is opened using pipe manipulation during the spear setting sequence. The cuttings from severing the tubular fall onto the cement. The spear is set with string manipulation as the drill string rotates the blades while maintaining the string under tension. The spear can be released and repositioned for the top of the string to facilitate removal and disassembly at the surface. All the above described operations are accomplished with a single trip into the hole.

Method of wellbore isolation with cutting and pulling a string in a single trip

Systems facilitate forming lateral wellbores by optionally eliminating one or more trips downhole. The systems provide for forming a lateral wellbore by enabling the milling of a casing window and/or the drilling of the desired lateral wellbore to a target depth during a single trip down hole. The systems also facilitate improved downhole dynamics control and overall bottom hole assembly functionality.

Systems for forming lateral wellbores

An apparatus and method for activating a downhole tool of a production system is disclosed. The apparatus includes a first component, a first magnetic member coupled to the first component, a second component of movable with respect to the first component, and a second magnetic member attached to the second component. The first component is generally stationary with respect a work string of the production system. An electric current activates at least one of the first magnetic member and the second magnetic member to create a magnetic force between the first magnetic member and the second magnetic member, thereby moving the movable component with respect to the stationary component to perform the action downhole. The produced motion of the movable component activates the downhole tool.

Apparatus to activate a downhole tool by way of electromagnets via wireline current

A system and method facilitate sidetracking by eliminating one or more trips downhole. A sidetracking system includes a whipstock assembly and a stinger assembly. The stinger assembly has a stinger which extends at least partially through the whipstock assembly. The stinger is coupled to a sub of the sidetracking system by a releasable latch mechanism, such as a shear pin or collet.

Cementing whipstock apparatus and methods

A system and method facilitate drilling of lateral wellbores by optionally eliminating one or more trips downhole. The system and method provide for drilling a lateral wellbore by enabling the milling of a casing window and the drilling of the desired lateral wellbore to a target depth during a single trip down hole. The system and method also facilitate better downhole dynamics control and improved overall bottom hole assembly functionality during drilling.

High performance wellbore departure and drilling system

A system and method to facilitate the drilling of one or more lateral wellbores while eliminating one or more trips downhole. The system utilizes a drilling assembly comprising an impregnated drill bit or other suitable drill bit. The impregnated drill bit is coupled to a whipstock by a connector for deployment downhole in a single trip. The connector comprises a separation device which facilitates disconnection of the impregnated drill bit from the whipstock once the whipstock is anchored at a desired downhole location.

System and method for coupling an impregnated drill bit to a whipstock

A sidetracking tool includes a setting tool having an expandable anchor, a whipstock connected to an upper end of the setting tool, the whipstock having a ramp face along an axial length thereof, and a drilling assembly including a drill bit disposed on an end thereof, wherein the drill bit is configured to interface with the ramp face of the whipstock.
