A low profile limit switch utilizes a bowed spring actuator for advancing a bridge contact into and out of contact with a pair of terminal contacts to close and open the switch. The bridge contact is mounted on a glide on an end of the spring and formed from an insulating material. The terminal contacts are spring loaded and maintained in spaced apart and staggered relationship so that only one of the terminal contacts remains in contact with the bridge contact when it is retracted by the bowed spring. A mounting clip including a mounting flange and spaced apart spring loaded arms extending generally perpendicular to the mounting flange is used to mount the switch to a surface proximate an edge without having to obtain any significant amount of vertical clearance above the switch for bolting it to the surface.

Low-profile switch with flat spring actuating mechanism

A flow meter having a scale with temperature set points corresponding to a flow rate that a known fluid flowing therethrough at the set point temperature must reach to ensure turbulent flow of the fluid through a cooling system of a specified diameter. The flow meter preferably includes a plurality of scales, each having temperature set points corresponding to a different sized passageway in the mold cooling system. The scales are printed on a sleeve, rotatably mounted on a cylindrical body of the flow meter. The scales are selectively rotated into view by an operator to permit the operator to use the appropriate scale corresponding to the diameter of the passageways of the cooling system with which the flow meter is to be used.

A water resistant actuating mechanism for a plunger type limit switch using a bowed spring to activate the plunger of a plunger type switch mounted within an actuating mechanism housing includes a flexible seal for covering the hole or opening in through which the bowed spring extends. The seal may be dome shaped and cover a circular opening. A glide or shoe is positioned on or connected to each end of the spring and are held in place between an upper wall of the housing and a backing sheet connected to the housing. The glide reduces the amount of deflection of the bowed spring required to activate the plunger type switch such that the additional thickness added by the flexible seal does not increase the overall required thickness of the actuating mechanism.

Water resistant actuating mechanism for plunger type switches

A length adjustable extension bar for connecting a mold ejector plate to a press ejector plate comprises a rotatable member threadingly secured on one end of a threaded stud. An opposite end of the threaded stud is connected to the press ejector plate and a distal end or head of the rotatable member is connected to the mold ejector plate. Rotation of the rotatable member relative to the threaded stud increases or decreases the overall length of the extension bar. A locking assembly comprising a locking sleeve biased by a spring into engagement with a locking nut is mounted on the extension bar to prevent adjustments in the length of the extension bar without first advancing the locking sleeve out of engagement with the locking nut. The locking sleeve is slidably mounted on the rotatable member shaft but is prevented from rotating relative to the shaft by a pin extending through the rotatable member shaft and aligned slots formed on opposite sides of the locking sleeve. The spring is positioned on the rotatable member shaft between the rotatable member head and the sleeve to bias the sleeve toward and into engagement with the locking nut.

Adjustable length extension bars for connecting a mold ejector plate to a press ejector plate

A position sensing switch combined with a slide retainer for injection molds of the type having at least a portion of the molding cavity formed in slides which are slidingly mounted on one of a pair of mold halves such that the slides advance between open and closed positions laterally relative to the mold halves as the mold halves are similarly advanced between open and closed positions. The slide retainer comprises a locking member, such as a spring loaded plunger secured on the slide, and a receiver, such as a detent formed on a slide plate of the mold half to which the slide is slidably connected. The detent is formed in a cover plate extending over a cavity extending into the slide plate and in which the switch is positioned. The switch is positioned with its plunger in alignment with a hole extending through the cover plate and into the detent such the slide retainer plunger engages the switch plunger, directly or indirectly, when the slide retainer plunger is advanced into the detent, activating or changing the switch condition and electronically verifying the position of the slide in the open position. The switch is mounted on a pivotal switch bracket within the cavity which permits adjustment of the position of the switch plunger relative to the detent to adjust the sensitivity of the switch.

A temperature responsive flow control valve has a plunger type actuator positioned in a fluid flow passageway between a valve head and an adjustable abutment member. The actuator includes a canister filled with a heat expansible material which expands upon heating to drive the actuator from the canister so as to engage the valve head and drive it out of seated engagement with a valve seat against the biasing force of a spring. The abutment member is axially adjustable toward and away from the valve seat to adjust the distance therebetween. By adjusting the distance between the abutment member and the valve seat the temperature at which the actuator expands to a sufficient degree to open the valve may be adjusted. A controlled leak through the valve is provided.

An actuating mechanism for a plunger-type switch having alternative open and closed conditions and having a plunger movable between an extended position and a retracted position whereby said switch condition is changed by the movement of said plunger comprises a flat spring, having a first spring end, a second spring end and a middle portion, and a housing having an upper surface wherein the plunger-type switch and spring are positioned within the housing such that the first spring end is positioned in closely spaced relation to the plunger in the extended position and the middle portion of the spring bows above the housing upper surface such that application of a force to the middle portion of the spring and directed towards the housing upper surface compresses the spring advancing the spring first end toward the switch a distance sufficient to move the plunger to the retracted position and upon removal of the force the first spring end advances away from the switch a distance sufficient to allow the plunger to move to the extended position.
