A printing blanket sleeve is provided having two separable sections including a carcass sleeve and a face sleeve. The face sleeve is mounted over the carcass sleeve such that, when the printing blanket sleeve is installed on a blanket cylinder, the carcass sleeve and the face sleeve form an integral unit in use. The printing blanket sleeve is provided in separable sections so that the printing surface may be replaced in a manner wherein the carcass sleeve, including preferably at least some portion of the inner layers, can be reused with new printing surfaces. Further, the printing blanket sleeve is arranged such that the user of the printing blanket sleeve can change the printing surface of the printing blanket sleeve on-site so that there is no longer a need to discard the entire printing blanket sleeve, or alternatively send the printing blanket sleeve back to the manufacturer to be reconditioned.

A flexible image transfer blanket is provided which has a non-extensible backing which is easy to mount onto conventional blanket cylinders, which requires no packing (but which can be used with packing), which does not need to be retensioned during operation, and which prints to the gap better than conventional fabric-reinforced blankets. The image transfer blanket is adapted to be mounted onto a blanket cylinder and includes first and second ends, with at least one of the first and second ends being adapted to be inserted into an axially-extending gap in the blanket cylinder. The blanket includes a image transfer surface layer, at least one woven fabric ply, and a non-extensible base layer. The at least one woven fabric ply includes both warp and weft fibers, with the weft fibers being oriented so that when the blanket is mounted on the blanket cylinder the weft fibers extend circumferentially about the blanket cylinder.

A branched hose construction, part therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the method comprising the steps of disposing a mark on a length of hose that straddles the location where the hose is to be cut into two hose sections whereby the cutting of the length of hose into the two hose sections provides two parts of the mark respectively on the cut ends of the two hose sections, aligning the parts of the mark with orienting means on a T-connector during the step of telescoping the cut ends of the two hose sections onto the opposite ends of the T-connector so that such oriented relation is permanently maintained after a sleeve-like member has been injection molded from polymeric material over the cut ends of the hose section and a part of the T-connector body that is exposed between the cut ends of the two hose sections.

A vacuum cleaner hose construction and method of making the same are provided, the vacuum cleaner hose construction comprising an elongated vacuum hose having an electrical conductor extending therealong and being provided with an end portion, and an electrical connector carried by the hose and being fixed to the end portion, the connector having a pair of spaced apart knife-like portions each being provided with opposed edges defining sides of a slot therein that has an open end and a closed end, the knife-like portions of the connector having the open ends of the slots thereof facing in the same direction and being interconnected together at one end thereof to an intermediate part of the connector whereby the portions and the part define a U-shaped configuration that has a bight facing in the same direction as the open end of the slots, the end portion being disposed in the slots of the connector and being wedged between the opposed edges thereof for providing electrical connection therebetween, the connector having a holding unit carried thereby and disposed adjacent the conductor to hold the conductor in the slots by trapping the conductor between the holding unit and the closed ends of the slots, the holding unit comprising a U-shaped holding member having a pair of spaced apart legs and a cross member interconnecting the legs together, the legs being respectively disposed adjacent the knife-like portions and between the same, the bight of the U-shaped holding member facing in the same direction as the bight of the connector.

A vacuum cleaner hose construction, insert therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the vacuum cleaner hose construction comprising an elongated vacuum hose having an end and an electrical conductor extending therealong and being provided with an end portion at the end thereof, an electrical terminal connector carried by the hose and being fixed to the end portion, an enlarged cuff disposed onto the end of the hose and covering at least part of the connector to hold the connector and its interconnected end portion in a predetermined position on the hose, and an insert that initially holds the connector and its interconnected end portion in the predetermined position thereof before the cuff is disposed thereon, the insert also being at least partially covered by the cuff.

Method of producing a continuous flexible tubular conduit having a plurality of helically wound reinforcing-electrical wires is provided wherein the apparatus has means for forming a plurality of wires into a corresponding plurality of substantially identical continuous non-rotating helical coils without entanglement of such wires and an extruder head for extruding a polymeric tube around the coils with the coil turns coaxially aligned and alternately arranged to complete the tubular conduit.
