A combined lighting and speaker device having a central longitudinal axis defining a forward and a rearward direction and a radially outward and a radially inward direction is provided. The device comprises a tweeter; a tweeter horn positioned radially outwardly of the tweeter; a speaker positioned rearward of the tweeter horn; and a light emitting diode, LED, assembly positioned radially outwardly of the tweeter. The LED assembly comprises one or more light emitting diodes, LEDs, and a lens having a forward surface. The tweeter horn has an inner edge in communication with an outer edge of the tweeter, so that the tweeter horn forms a guide to direct sound produced by the tweeter away from the speaker when in use. At least part of the tweeter horn is provided by the forward surface of the lens.

Lighting and speaker device and annular LED assembly

Several aspects of power distribution systems are described. One aspect relates to apparatus for providing a direct current to a load comprising one or more light emitting diodes. The apparatus comprises: a rectifier operatively connectable to a secondary winding of a transformer whose primary winding is for carrying a high-frequency alternating current; a first capacitor operatively connectable to the secondary winding; and a second capacitor operatively connectable, at least partly via the rectifier, to the secondary winding. The first and second capacitors together provide a reactance referred to the primary winding which substantially compensates for the reactance of the primary winding.

Coupler for use in a power distribution system

Electrical systems are provided which include a power distribution system for distributing high frequency AC power having a twisted pair conductor and power tapping element, for instance to an LED or OLED load. The electrical systems include an LED or OLED luminaire having a heat sink and a light diffusing optical element and power supplies for powering LEDs or OLEDs such as those used in the luminaire.

Electrical system using high frequency AC and having inductively connected loads, and related power supplies and luminaires

A flexible cable is provided for a lighting system having a power supply that includes a power supply input to receive a first signal having a first frequency and a circuit for converting the first signal to a second signal, and at least one luminaire coupled to a lamp driver. The cable comprises a first leg of wires for carrying the second signal. The first wire electrically connects a loop output of the power supply to an input of the lamp driver and a second wire electrically connects an output of the lamp driver to a loop return of the power supply. The cable further comprises a second leg of wires electrically connected to a ground of the power supply and the ground of the lamp driver. The second signal has a substantially constant current and a second frequency distinctly higher than the first frequency. The flexible cable further comprises a modular connector.

Constant current class 3 lighting system

A lighting system having a power supply and at least one luminaire. The power supply includes a power supply input to receive a first signal having a first frequency and a circuit for converting the first signal to a second signal. The power supply also includes at least one power supply output to output a second signal having a substantially constant current and a second frequency distinctly higher than the first frequency. The luminaire includes a lamp coupled to a lamp driver circuit, which has an input for receiving the output signal from the power supply and which is configured to use the received output signal to operate the lamp. The lamp driver input and the power supply output may be connected by a flexible cable.

Constant current Class 3 lighting system

An a.c. current distribution system fed by a current source for providing electrical power to a load, the current distribution system comprising a first and second conductive means connectable to the current source and coupling means to couple substantially one half of the load in series at a first position along the first conductive means and to couple substantially the other half of the load in series at a second position along the second conductive means, the first and second positions being substantially the same distance along the first and second conductive means from the current source.

A.C. current distribution system

An electrical arrangement is disclosed for use in supplying electrical power to the units in a motor vehicle. The arrangement comprises a battery, and an inverter to receive power from the battery and to generate a high frequency signal at an intermediate voltage higher than the voltage of the battery. There is a distribution network to distribute the high frequency signal to the units in the vehicle. At least some of the units supplied with electrical power are provided with step-up transformers to step-up the intermediate voltage to a higher voltage, that higher voltage being used by the units.
