The innovation relates to systems and/or methodologies for facilitating dynamic sustainability searches. A sustainability search component executes a query, and returns one or more results that satisfy a set of search criteria and a set of sustainability factors. The search criteria can include keywords, such as product types, process types, and additional features related to the keywords, such as price, location, brand, and so forth. The sustainability factors are alternative cost measures for a given process, product, or plant element. The sustainability search component can analyze the returned results, and rank the results based on sustainability.

For energy operations across domains, a method generates a native node and a foreign node that includes a foreign data structure that is defined with a foreign protocol and that represents information of a foreign device in a foreign namespace. The method links the native node and the foreign node in a native namespace and the foreign namespace by a translation function that automatically converts information between the foreign data structure and the proxy data structure using protocol specific structure converting functions. The method further establishes a first publish/subscription instance with message middleware for the foreign device as publisher of the first publish/subscription instance. The method translates a message from the foreign device using the communication stack.

Energy operations across domains

The present disclosure describes system and methods for inferring energy usage at multiple levels of granularity. One embodiment describes an industrial automation system including a first industrial automation component, a first sensor coupled to the first industrial automation component, in which the first sensor measures a first amount of power supplied to the first industrial automation component, a second industrial automation component that couples to the first industrial automation component, and an industrial control system that infers energy usage by the first industrial automation component and the second industrial automation component based at least in part on the first amount of power supplied to the first industrial automation component.

Inferred energy usage and multiple levels of energy usage

An energy monitoring system includes a memory storing instructions to execute an energy modeling technique and processing circuitry for executing the instructions to operate the energy modeling technique. The energy modeling technique includes receiving energy data from a plurality of segments representative of one or more logical subgroups. The energy modeling technique includes categorizing the energy data of the logical subgroups into a plurality of segments. The energy modeling technique includes organizing the plurality of segments into a plurality of state-based hierarchical levels. The energy modeling technique includes calculating energy usage and factors associated with the plurality of state-based hierarchical levels via an energy model. The energy modeling technique includes outputting a visualization representative of the energy data corresponding to each of the segments to a monitoring and control system, resulting in a graphical representation accessible by a user-viewable screen.

Discrete resource tracking systems (and corresponding methodologies) that collect, tag and store resource consumption and usage values associated with industrial environment processes are provided. The specification can track water, air, gas, electricity, or steam consumption and usage view of a discrete (or batch) processes. Emissions and/or effluents associated with processes and sub-processes can also be collected, tagged and stored as desired. These stored resource consumption and usage and/or emissions and/or effluents data elements can be used for a variety of purposes including, but not limited to, simulation, planning, forecasting, valuating, optimizing, etc.

The claimed subject matter relates to an architecture that can facilitate sustainability monitoring and indicia thereof for a product over the course of the entire lifecycle of the product. In particular, the architecture can acquire a status update associated with a state of the product. Based upon the state, the architecture can determine an impact of that state to a sustainability score associated with the product.

A system may include a processor that may receive structured energy data associated with one or more assets in an automation system such that the structured energy data comprises a logical grouping of assets in the automation system. The processor may also determine energy properties of the one or more assets with respect to the logical grouping over a period of time, identify one or more idle periods of the one or more assets with respect to the logical grouping during the period of time based on the energy properties, and send one or more commands to the one or more assets to enter a reduced power consumption mode during the idle periods.

Systems and methods for controlling assets using energy information determined with an organizational model of an industrial automation system

A receptacle has an outer housing with an aperture and an internal frame sized and configured to fit within the outer housing. A telescoping assembly is configured to associate with the aperture such that the receptacle may be placed in a first position or a second position, the internal volume of the receptacle being greater in the second position than the first. A second receptacle is formed from an inner portion and an outer portion offset by a stepped portion. The stepped portion forms a collar rest edge at a first height and a collar rest platform at a second height greater than the first height. A collar has a base and is adapted to fit over the inner portion such that the base may rest on the collar rest edge in a first position or the collar rest platform in a second position increasing the internal volume.

The present disclosure describes systems and methods that provide an energy usage auto-baseline used for diagnostics and/or prognostics. One embodiment describes a method that includes determining, using an industrial control system, energy usage associated with an industrial automation component over a period of time based at least in part on an operational parameter associated with the industrial automation component, generating, using the industrial control system, an energy usage baseline associated with the industrial automation component based at least in part on the energy usage, in which the energy usage baseline includes an expected energy usage associated with the industrial automation component, and sending, using the industrial control system, a notification to a display of the industrial control system, in which the notification indicates that the industrial automation component is potentially experiencing a fault when the energy usage exceeds the energy usage baseline.

The present disclosure describes systems and methods for quantifying operating strategy energy usage. One embodiment describes an industrial control system that includes a tangible, non-transitory, computer readable medium storing a plurality of instructions executable by a processor of the industrial control system. The instructions include instructions to determine a plurality of operating strategies associated with an industrial automation component that is communicatively coupled to the industrial control system, in which each of the plurality of operating strategies includes a set of operational parameters associated with the industrial automation component, determine an expected energy usage cost associated with the industrial automation component for each of the plurality of operating strategies, determine an expected value added associated with the industrial automation component for each of the plurality of operating strategies, and select one of the plurality of operating strategies for operating the industrial automation component based at least in part on the expected energy usage cost and the expected value added associated with each of the plurality of operating strategies.

An energy management system may include a plurality of industrial automation devices and a first energy agent embedded within an industrial automation device of the plurality of industrial automation devices. The first energy agent may monitor one or more energy properties that correspond to the industrial automation device. Also, the first energy agent may adjust one or more operations of the industrial automation device based at least in part on the energy properties and an energy objective.
