A hand-held aerosolized inhaler that delivers an aerosolized solution to the user on demand when he or she inhales is provided. A pressure or flow sensor within the invention detects the change in air flow as the user inhales and triggers spraying the aerosol solution only when the inhaled breath stream will optimally entrain the sprayed aerosol. The pressure or flow sensor sends an electronic signal to turn on or off liquid and air pumps as the user breathes. Liquid, or liquid and air are pumped to the nozzle inside the invention to create an aerosolized mixture.

On demand aerosolized delivery inhaler

Self Contained Aerosol Dual Delivery System (SCADDS) is a pocket-sized inhaler for delivering inhaled therapeutic or recreational aerosols simultaneously and separately via oral and nasal routes. A handle assembly has a removable mouthpiece, cartridge penetration needles, puncture needle protective cover, a shuttle, a cam, valves and conduits from the penetration needles to the individual nozzles for oral and nasal inhalation. A cartridge contains separate reservoirs of solutions for oral and nasal inhalation. The reservoirs, impermeable bags with fluid and dissolved gas in solution, are punctured when the cartridge is attached to the handle assembly. Inhalation slides the shuttle toward the mouthpiece and opens the valves to release solution. The oral aerosol is inhaled into the lungs while the nasal aerosol provides a pleasant aroma. To enhance oral inhalation solution properties the oral inhalation reservoir may contain finely divided solids in a semi-permeable membranous bag, attached to a second reservoir, or be divided by a filter such that these solids do not occlude nozzles or penetration needles Degassed water may be used to enhance organic compound solubility in solutions. Alternative reservoir bag systems are twin spring driven or gas driven cylinders to provide proper pressure to aerosolize nasal and oral fluids. Hydraulic intensification, piezoelectric pumping devices, and electromechanically driven pressure pumps are alternative pressurization systems.

The present invention relates to an Atmospheric Energy Projection System for projecting electrical and thermal energy. The Microwave Facilitated Atmospheric Energy Projection System (MFAEPS) uses microwave energy at the resonant frequency or frequencies of oxygen and/or water to heat the atmosphere. This improves the potential conductivity of the air in the path of the microwave beam by heating the oxygen and water molecules in the air providing a favored pathway for breakdown. A voltage pulse generator discharges through an electrode positioned near the center of the microwave beam's recent path and creates an ionizing wave that follows the microwave beam's recent path. Alternatively, a laser can substitute for the electrode and project a high powered beam that is focused to create breakdown and thus create the ionizing pulse that travels down the favored pathway. The system can operate in an underwater environment operating at the resonant frequency of water.

Microwave facilitated atmospheric energy projection system

The Atmospheric Energy Projection System (AEPS) projects electrical/thermal energy using microwave radiation at the resonant frequency of oxygen. The radiation excites a column through the ambient atmosphere to a temperature such that air within the column is converted from an insulator to a conducting channel or focused medium. Electrical current is then applied to the channel to transmit an electric charge a predetermined distance. Rapid release of pulses of 60 GHz microwave radiation at a field strength below that for breakdown for the waveguide feeding the antenna or at the antenna aperture creates a channel without premature plasma generation. Once the channel is energized sufficiently, an electric charge is released into the channel and flows down it from the source to a solid the channel intersects. If no solid intrudes the charge diffuses harmlessly at the end of the heated channel as the channel cools back to the ambient temperature. Channel duration is a function of cross-sectional area, and channel length is a function of the amount of 60 GHz microwave energy radiated into the volume of interest. Radiated energy to make the channel is a function of the power available and microwave source used. Shorter ranges require less power to create the channel. Amount of electrical charge released depends on desired range and amount of energy needed at the end of the channel. Arrays of antennas are positioned around a central electrode. Multiple arrays of antennas and electrodes are positioned around a space forming a secure transmission area.
