A computer keyboard is designed to accommodate a variety of security features that may be installed in the keyboard during manufacturing, whereby various combinations of devices that impart selected security features or other functions may be assembled. The keyboard assembly includes a base extension for accommodating the security devices, and a number of interchangeable modular tops supporting various discreet input technologies. This modular design is tooled to accommodate different combinations of technologies, such as biometric fingerprint readers, NFC-RFID receivers, auto locking sonar, game cartridges, and connector-supporting modules. Each interchangeable modular top can hold independent modular technology that can be used to construct an integrated device that meets the customer requirements without any substantial modification of the keyboard base or extension.

Modular modifiable computer keyboard

A terminal for a computer system includes a keyboard incorporating modules for performing two factor authentication (TFA) for log-on of a user. TFA preferably combines a fingerprint scan with the proximity of a previously enrolled Bluetooth device that typically accompanies the user, such as a wireless phone or headset. The keyboard also includes an ultrasonic proximity detector aimed to detect the presence of the user at the keyboard and to terminate log-on when the user leaves the keyboard. The keyboard processor may be used as an encryption engine to encode all keystroke data and authentication/log-on transactions with the computer system.

A method and apparatus disinfecting a computer keyboard includes a metal ion treatment applied to the computer keyboard and other user input devices. A further measure taken is the installation of a shutoff mechanism in the link connecting the computer keyboard to the computer system to open the data connections between the keyboard and host system. Another measure is the periodic and reiterated wipedown of the keyboard and ancillary input devices with an antiseptic wipe. The shutoff mechanism is turned off before the wipedown procedure is carried out, to prevent any incidental keyboard entries made during the wipedown process from being transmitted to the host system.

Golf apparatus for driving ranges and the like. A piston moves upwardly and downwardly in a cylinder below the ground level. Successive golf balls are taken one at a time from a supply of such balls, and raised by the piston either to turf level or to a tee level at an elevation somewhat above the turf level. When the ball is hit by a club, the decrease in weight against a pressure-sensitive switch carried by the piston, serves to close the switch to start an electric motor through the next cycle of operation. An adjustment is provided for determining whether the ball is to be raised only to the turf level, or all the way to the tee level. The adjustment feature of the apparatus also includes a control mechanism which serves to keep the pressure sensitive switch closed and keep the motor operating during the entire cycle of operation, notwithstanding that the weight of the ball during the upward travel from ball loading position to hitting position of the tee would tend to close the switch and stop the motor, if this control mechanism were not provided.
