The present invention relates to a control system () for controlling a target ride height of a vehicle (). The control system () is configured to set a target off-road ride height (h) in dependence on one or more vehicle operating parameters. The target off-road ride height (h) is set upon receipt of a driving mode signal signalling that an off-road driving mode has been selected. Aspects of the present invention also relate to a vehicle and a method of controlling a target ride height of a vehicle.

Ride height control system and method

The invention resides in a system and method for determining the manner in which a vehicle is driven. The system comprises a processor comprising an input configured to receive dynamic ride data from at least one on-board vehicle dynamic ride sensor, wherein the processor is configured (i) to calculate an output signal which is indicative of whether the dynamic ride data exceeds at least one dynamic ride data threshold value for a predetermined period of time; and (ii) to compare the output signal with at least one output threshold to determine the manner in which the vehicle is driven. The processor comprises an output configured to send a control signal to one or more vehicle components, wherein the control signal is indicative of the manner in which the vehicle is driven.

Vehicle handling

The present invention relates to a system for determining whether to inhibit lowering of the ride height of a vehicle when the vehicle speed exceeds a speed threshold value. The system includes a processor having an input configured to receive ride attribute data from at least one on-board vehicle ride attribute sensor, the ride attribute data being indicative of the roughness of the surface over which the vehicle is travelling, and a data memory configured to store at least one predetermined ride attribute threshold value for the or each ride attribute sensor. The processor is configured to calculate a ride attribute parameter in dependence on the received ride attribute data for the or each ride attribute sensor. The processor is also configured to compare the or each calculated ride attribute parameter with the corresponding at least one predetermined ride attribute threshold value to determine whether the vehicle is travelling on a smooth surface or a rough surface, and to inhibit lowering of the ride height when it is determined that the vehicle is travelling on a rough surface.

System and method for determining whether to adjust the ride height of a vehicle

The present invention relates to a control system () for controlling a target ride height of a vehicle (). A control system for a suspension height adjustment mechanism of a vehicle. The suspension height adjustment mechanism comprises a front suspension height adjustment mechanism at a front end of the vehicle and a rear suspension height adjustment mechanism at a rear end of the vehicle. The control system is configured to control the suspension height adjustment mechanism in response to user-generated control signals to: increase the height of at least the rear end of the vehicle to a first predetermined vehicle height corresponding to a High tow hitch height; and decrease the height of at least the rear end of the vehicle to a second predetermined vehicle height corresponding to a Low tow hitch height. Both the first and second predetermined vehicle heights are accessible from one or more other vehicle height that is different to the first and second predetermined heights. Decreasing the vehicle height from the High tow hitch height to the Low tow hitch height comprises the control system controlling the suspension height adjustment mechanism such that the height of the front end of the vehicle is decreased less than the height of the rear end of the vehicle.

Vehicle air suspension switch

A ride-height adjustment system for a vehicle. The system has a first detector, to detect a preliminary end-of-journey (EOJ) event, such as seat belt unbuckling or ignition switch-off. A controller adjusts the vehicle's suspension system in a first movement in response to detection of the preliminary EOJ event, to change the ride height of the vehicle towards an access ride height of the vehicle. The access ride height is a predetermined ride height that facilitates egress from and entrance to the vehicle. A second detector detects opening of a door of the vehicle. When the ride height of the vehicle remains different from the access ride height after the first movement, the controller adjusts the suspension system in a second movement in response to the door-opening detection. This further changes the ride height of the vehicle towards the access ride height of the vehicle.

Vehicle suspension systems

The present application relates to a control system () for controlling a motor vehicle suspension (). The suspension () has a plurality of adjustable height suspension units () and a suspension control means () is provided to control the suspension units (). The control system () has a receiver for receiving height data form height sensors () to provide height measurements for each suspension unit (). A suspension modelling means is provided for modelling the height of each suspension unit (). The control system () is configured to detect an unrequested suspension height change when the difference between the modelled height and the measured height of one or more suspension units () exceeds a threshold. The present application also relates to a motor vehicle; and a method of detecting an unrequested suspension height change.

Control system for a vehicle suspension

In a vehicle an auxiliary machine () such as an air compressor is physically associated with the vehicle battery (). The battery provides for substantial additional mass which resists transmission of noise and vibration from the small machine to the vehicle structure (). The small machine () may itself form part of a battery clamp arrangement.
