In some cases, a wound dressing includes a substantially flexible substrate with a first, wound-facing side supporting a plurality of electronic components and a second side opposite the first side, a wicking layer in contact with the second side of the substrate, the wicking layer configured to facilitate passage of fluid, a substantially non-stretchable coating applied to at least some of the plurality of electronic components, a substantially stretchable coating applied to the first side of the substrate, the stretchable coating applied over the substantially non-stretchable coating, a wound contact layer in contact with the stretchable coating, the wound contact layer configured to adhere to a wound, and a protective layer applied to the wound contact layer, the protective layer configured to be removed to expose the wound contact layer. Sensor integrated dressings and systems

Devices and methods for encapsulating a portion of a wound dressing with biocompatible coating are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method includes applying a first coating on a first side of a flexible substrate of the wound dressing. The first side of the substrate can support a plurality of electronic components, electronic tracks, and connectors between the electronic components and electronic tracks. The first coating can be applied to at least one connectors. The application of the first coating can strengthen the at least one connector. The method can further include applying a second biocompatible coating on the first side of the substrate of the wound dressing and coating a second side of the substrate opposite the first side with a third coating, and coating at least some of the plurality of the electronic components with a fourth coating.

Component positioning and encapsulation for sensor enabled wound dressings

Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to sealing compositions for negative pressure treatment systems and wound dressing systems, devices containing the same, apparatuses, uses and methods for creating a main wound dressing portion for use in wound care, more particularly for sealing a trimmable dressing, having a main dressing portion or cell in fluid (e.g., gas) communication with additional dressing portions or cells, for use in wound care, more particularly that may be used for the treatment of wounds. In particular, some embodiments are directed to compositions for improving the versatility of wound dressings for wounds of different shapes or sizes.

Wound dressing sealant and use thereof

Embodiments of apparatuses and methods for determining a positioning of sensors in a wound dressing are disclosed. In some embodiments, a wound monitoring and/or therapy system can include a wound dressing and a plurality of sensors configured to measure one or more wound characteristics. The wound monitor system can also include at least one positioning device configured to indicate position and/or orientation in the wound of a sensor of the plurality of sensors. In some embodiments, a detector can be configured to determine, based on the positioning data, the position and/or orientation in the wound of the sensor of the plurality of sensors. Positioning of sensors for sensor enabled wound monitoring or therapy

Devices and methods for encapsulating a portion of a wound dressing with a coating are disclosed. In some embodiments, a method can comprise positioning a substantially flexible wound contact layer of the wound dressing on a perforated plate. The wound contact layer can include a first side supporting a plurality of electronic components protruding from a surface of the first side and a second side opposite the first side. The second side can be substantially smooth. The method can further comprise applying a vacuum to the wound contact layer through perforations in the perforated plate to hold the wound contact layer against the perforated plate and coating the wound contact layer with a coating.

Systems and method for applying biocompatible encapsulation to sensor enabled wound monitoring and therapy dressings

Embodiments of negative pressure wound therapy systems, apparatuses, and methods for operating the systems and apparatuses are disclosed. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a negative pressure source, a connector port, at least one switch, and a controller. The negative pressure source is connected through the connector port to either (i) a wound dressing having a canister configured to store fluid aspirated from the wound or (ii) a wound dressing without a canister between the connector port and the wound dressing. The controller determines, based on a signal received from the at least one switch, whether the canister is positioned in the fluid flow path and adjusts one or more operational parameters of negative pressure wound therapy based on the determination. The switch is activated by the connection of either the canister or canisterless wound dressing to the apparatus.

Negative pressure wound therapy apparatuses and methods for using the same

In particular, some embodiments are directed to improved wound dressings comprising a bridge portion connecting two or more portions of an absorbent layer that facilitates trimming of the wound dressing to suitable sizes. Some embodiments provide for trimming the dressing in a gap between two or more portions of an absorbent layer and sealing the exposed portion of dressing after trimming when the dressing is applied to skin surrounding a wound.

Disclosed herein are embodiments of methods of inspection and manufacture of flexible printed circuit boards and flexible sensor sheets, and apparatuses such as wound dressing components utilizing the same. The methods can comprise applying a coating material to a flexible printed circuit board, wherein the coating material comprises a material that will fluoresce when exposed to UV or visible light and the flexible printed circuit board comprises one or more electronic components. The coated flexible printed circuit board can be positioned under UV or visible light to cause the coating material to fluoresce.

Systems and methods for inspection of encapsulation and components in sensor equipped wound dressings

Disclosed herein are several embodiments of a negative pressure appliance and methods of using the same in the treatment of wounds. Some embodiments are directed towards wound dressings comprising a liquid and gas permeable transmission layer, an absorbent layer for absorbing wound exudate, the absorbent layer overlying the transmission layer, a gas impermeable cover layer overlying the absorbent layer and comprising a first orifice, wherein the cover layer is moisture vapor permeable. Some embodiments are directed to improved fluidic connectors or suction adapters for connecting to a wound site, for example using softer, kink-free conformable suction adapters.
