The present application is directed to methods of preparing a wet composite patch for use in various applications, such as, for example, reworking a composite part of an aircraft. The method comprises heating the composite patch to a temperature that causes resin containing gaseous components to flow from the patch through a flow path. The gaseous components are vented from the resin while restricting the flow of resin from the composite patch by restricting the flow of resin through the flow path. Systems for performing the methods of the present application are also disclosed.

System and method for reworking composites

An apparatus for the application of aerospace composite laminatesis provided, including a non-contaminating outer layerand an insulated base. The present invention further includes a constant temperature heating elementpositioned between the non-contaminating outer layerand the insulated base. A battery packis positioned within the insulated baseto power the constant temperature heating element. The present invention can further include an ergonomic elementmounted to the insulated baseto facilitate handling of the apparatusfor the application of aerospace composite laminates.

Rechargeable composite ply applicator

A ceramic fabric and a resin are combined to form a fire protection sheet capable of being co-cured onto a parent laminate structure. The resulting monolithic composite firewall shows fire protection ability comparable to that of the conventional titanium structure, without the problems associated therewith, such as titanium panel separation and disbonding. The fire protection sheet easily conforms to the shape of the parent laminate and is also useful as a repair material for damaged conventionally protected firewalls.
