An apparatus for processing a radio navigation signal. The apparatus has a first correlator correlating a first signal component with a first code, providing a first output, and having a carrier frequency and data. The apparatus also has a second correlator is configured to correlate a second signal component with a second code, providing a second output, and being different from the first code, the second signal component having the same carrier frequency as the first signal component and the same data as the first signal component. Each of real (I) and imaginary (Q) parts of the second output are delayed relative to respective parts of the first output such that the data on the second signal component is delayed with respect to the data on the first signal component, providing a delayed second output. The processor processes the outputs, their data being aligned to provide frequency information about the carrier.

Apparatus and method for processing radio navigation signals

A first oscillator generates a first frequency. A second oscillator generates a second frequency. A controller determines a difference between the first frequency and the second frequency and determines a non-ideal component of the first frequency in dependence on a temperature response of the first and second oscillators.

Frequency compensation

An input receives a generated frequency having a first frequency component and a second frequency component. A filter block includes filter coefficients describing a relationship between the second frequency component and an environmental characteristic. The filter block predicts the first frequency component based on the environmental characteristic, and updates the filter coefficients based on an offset between the predicted first frequency component and a received frequency corresponding to the first frequency component.

Method and apparatus for compensating a frequency generator such as an oscillator for frequency inaccuracies

A method for detecting multi-path interference in a spread-spectrum signal. A variation of a first signal and a variation of a second signal is compared. The variation of the first signal corresponds to a correlation of the spread-spectrum signal and a spreading code having a first offset. The variation of the second signal corresponds to a correlation of the spread-spectrum signal and the spreading code having a second offset. Multi-path interference is detected in dependence on the comparison.

Systems and methods for generating a CDMA signal s(t) comprising N components involves assigning to each of the N components one unique spreading sequence aselected from a set of M spreading sequences with M&#x2267;N, modulating the symbols dof each component on the assigned unique spreading sequence a, and combining the N symbols deach being spread with its own unique spreading sequence ato a CDMA signal s(t). The assigned spreading sequences aare selected such that all selected pairs within the set of N spreading sequences are orthogonal or very close to be orthogonal so that cross-correlation components between all spreading sequences aare close to zero or zero.

Generating and processing of CDMA signals

A system and method of locating the position of a satellite or a user using a satellite positioning system. The system and method includes receiving, at a terminal, satellite positioning data for at least one specified time period over a communications channel. In addition, the system includes storing, at the terminal, the satellite positioning data for the at least one specified time period. Responsive to an event at a later time, the system generally calculates, at the terminal, the satellite position at the later time based only on the satellite positioning data for the at least one specified time period.

Locating satellites

A system for processing a received signal having at least one code applied thereto, the received signal having a frequency, the system comprising: first correlator circuitry arranged to correlate the received signal with a first code to provide an output; second correlator circuitry arranged to correlate the received signal with a second code to provide an output, wherein the first code and the second code are different; and processor for processing together the outputs of the first and second correlator circuitry to cancel the frequency.

In an acquisition mode, sample reducer combines samples of a received signal for correlation with a locally generated version of a GPS code. In a tracking mode, the sampled signal is provided direct to the correlators without sample reduction. The same correlators are thereby used to increase acquisition speed.

A serial to parallel converter converts the reduced samples to parallel words which are correlated in parallel with locally generated words of the GPS code.

The present invention relates to a radio receiver, particularly to a receiver for use in single-frequency applications, such as GPS, and to a frequency generator, which may be used in such a radio receiver, or elsewhere. The frequency generator comprises a tuned circuit connected between the emitter of the transistor and ground, such that a voltage signal at the basic frequency appears on the emitter terminal of the transistor. This arrangement has the advantage that the two frequencies appear on separate ports, and provides a radio receiver including radio receiver circuitry for connection to digital signal processing circuitry, reducing the complexity of the overall circuit. Additionally, there is a radio receiver wherein separate first and second local oscillator signals are generated from the terminal of s single transistor, avoiding the need for cascade multiplication stages, again reducing the size and complexity of the overall circuit. Further, circuitry is included generating an oscillator signal whereby the signal processing means tolerates the resulting frequency errors, and a single frequency direct downconversion receiver, comprising means for sub-sampling and one-bit coding the demodulated signal, and a transistor capable of decoding a microwave local oscillator signal and a digital signal processor with a clock signal for tolerating frequency errors.
