An anchoring system for anchoring a post to a concrete body, such as a post for a basketball goal, includes a template for alignment of anchor bolts, which can be J-bolts. The template includes a plate with openings corresponding to openings on a mounting flange of the post, each plate opening including an alignment feature for orienting an anchor bolt perpendicular to the bottom of the plate. A nut engages the anchor bolts beneath the mounting flange of the post. The vertical shank of the anchor bolts is coated with a pre-cured elastomeric composition that has dampening properties, with the thickness of the coating being 5-75% the diameter of the anchor bolt.

A fitness slider is provided that is capable of holding a weight plate during use, to be manipulated by one or more extremities using the weight plate as the engagement surface for the user's hand or foot. Another fitness slider is configured to mate with different sizes of weight plates. Yet another fitness slider is provided that includes a handle on top of the weight plate as the engagement surface.

Basketball goals may incorporate folding rim assemblies which can be packaged and transported pre-mounted to certain backboard assemblies. Alternately, folding rim assemblies can be sold separately or packaged with a backboard for on-site mounting. Some basketball rim assembles may incorporate a break-away mechanism using a leaf spring. The leaf spring biases the rim bracket and resiliently resists downward pivotal movement of the rim bracket and rim. When the rim is rotated downward under an applied force, the leaf spring is flexed, biasing the rim to return to a static playing position when the force is removed.

Aspects of the disclosure include a basketball goal assembly with a vertical support assembly formed with a lower support assembly and an upper support assembly. The basketball goal assembly facilitates packaging, transport, display and installation of the assembly.

Certain embodiments of the present disclosure describe a frameless basketball backboard assembly and a method for producing a frameless basketball backboard assembly. A mounting structure is attached to one side of the backboard assembly, and a support assembly mounted to the backboard assembly connects the backboard assembly to a base. A rim may be added to a side of the backboard assembly by attaching to the support assembly.

Certain preferred embodiments of the present invention provide an improved light raising and lowering apparatus and method for a basketball goal. A light assembly is mounted at the upper end of an arcuate pole. The pole extends through two pairs of rollers. The pole can be rolled upward and downward to raise and lower the light assembly.

Certain embodiments of the present disclosure describe an arrangement for mounting basketball goal support arms to a support pole. The arrangement includes an attachment assembly that has a bolt piece, spacers, and a locking portion. The bolt piece includes a medial portion and bolt ends. The medial portion may be permanently attached to the support pole of a basketball goal. The bolt ends may receive a spacer, a support arm, and a locking portion.
