A nonwoven trough and method of construction thereof are provided. The nonwoven trough includes at least one nonwoven wall formed from a mixture of bonded natural cellulosic fibers and thermoplastic fibers. The at least one nonwoven wall extends along a longitudinal axis and has a midsection and opposite end portions. The midsection has a base and a pair of walls extending upwardly from the base to provide the midsection with a generally U-shaped cross-section taken generally transversely to the longitudinal axis. At least one flange extends laterally from the at least one nonwoven wall, wherein the flange is configured for attachment to a vehicle member.

Moldable natural fiber nonwoven wire harness trough and method of construction thereof

An elongated protective textile sleeve for protecting elongate members and methods of constructing a fabric substrate therefore are provided. The fabric substrate has a plurality of filamentary members woven, knitted or braided with one another. At least some of the filamentary members of the substrate extend to cut edges and are fabricated of a multi-component material that includes a core of a first polymeric material and an outer sheath of a second polymeric material. The outer sheath is heat-fusible and the inner core is heat-settable. The outer sheaths of the filamentary members are heat fused at least in the regions near the cut edges to keep the cut edges from fraying or the filamentary members from pulling out of the substrate. The core is heat set to form the desired shape of the protective sleeve.

Fabric for end fray resistance and protective sleeves formed therewith and methods of construction

A knit fabric, protective sleeve and glove constructed therefrom has three knit layers knit constructed and knit to one another in a single knitting operation to provide the fabric as a single piece of knit material. The fabric includes an outer layer, an inner layer and an intermediate layer sandwiched between the outer and inner layers. The outer layer is knit with a first yarn, the inner layer is knit with a second yarn and the intermediate layer is knit with a third yarn in looped fashion about at least some of the first and second yarns to provide an integrally knit structure having three layers knit stitched together in a single knitting process.

A heat shield and heat shield assembly for protecting components exposed to heat are disclosed. The heat shield includes a shroud shaped to cover the component, the shroud having heat reflective layers and a heat insulating layer. The shroud is attached to a clip for removable attachment to the component. A flexible, resilient tab extends from the shroud, the tab providing a means for attaching the heat shield to a wiring harness to form an assembly connectable to the component. The tab is bendable for relative movement of the shroud from a position spaced from the component to a position in which the shroud covers the component upon connection of the wiring harness to the component.
