A method is provided for dynamically adding customized advertisements with media content on digital media storage devices. A user may provide identification data to an automated machine or salesperson selling the media content at a retail location. Based upon the identification of the user, advertisements may be selected to be added to the media content. The selection of advertisements may be based upon previous transaction data, the genre of the media content, or characteristics identified for the user. Users may also select to change the quantity of advertisements to view based upon fees paid by the user for the media content. The user may pay additional fees to view less advertisements and the user may pay fewer fees and have more advertisements included with the media content.

Advertising with digital media content

Methods of reducing transaction time in a self-service terminal are described. The methods involve pre-stacking a defined amount of media, such as a commonly withdrawn amount of money, before the user has performed any service selection. During service selection, the user is given an option to withdraw the defined amount of money and if the user selects this option, the pre-stacked amount is dispensed. If the user selects an option to withdraw a different amount of money, a second dispenser in the self-service terminal may be used to stack and dispense this different amount.

Reducing transaction time in a self-service terminal

A self-service terminal (SST), such as an ATM, comprises a processor, and two functionally similar devices, for example cash dispense units, and an input/output (IO) port. The processor receives status data from each of the similar devices and determines which set of status data to communicate to a remote host via the IO port dependent upon device status and health parameters contained within the status data.
